Friday night at Shepparton

phanto what role do you think the cuzz will play this year?..i mean on and off field

It would only be my guess, but a floating roving role would probably suit him best.
I'd let all the young fellas do the hard work, bumping & chasing, and use Cousins for his disposal.

Just watching him a couple of times this year reminded me of how long & accurately he kicks the ball. He's clearly the best of that type at our Club.

If his legs stand up, I'd put him in the centre and have Richo or Pattinson standing around him. They'd take the marks and dish it off to him every time.

Much the same way Bartlett, Weightman & Wiley used to hang around the big fellas.

But the coaching group may have other ideas.

Haven't you noticed yet Claw?
With all the run and carry handball that's going on in the modern game of keepings off, foot skills are nearly irrelevant.
A defender to kick in, a couple of forwards to provide your set shots on goal. Maybe a couple of mids that can ping on the run sometimes and your pretty much set.
Christ! Half the players don't even need to be able to handball nowadays the games that quick even the old Crow throw is obsolete.
Did I mention how fast the game is nowadays? It's so quick nobodies got any idea who actually does what with the ball anymore. There's just lots of players running around being really quick and about a dozen maggots trying to look everywhere at once to see if they can figure out what all the really fast players are doing in such a hurry.
let me say TM sarcasm doesnt become you. best leave it to me.

This the role the Eagles gave to him. High half forward who plays as a second centre men. He is super smart in this role and as we know will out run %95 of AFL footballers. He needs to be getting his kicks forward of half back, with all the rolling zones blokes who kick over them and can kick accurately. If his body holds out he will be the steal of the year. His body is a much greater concern to me then the Persian rugs.

The club is run well, this is disappointing but just an aberration.

\beg to differ in a way. yes they are getting better but i'm led to believe that we have a pretty ordinary reputation among the other clubs.

a mate of mine was at a conference where the afl chiefs were all in attendance. there was a conversation about a certain thing that was happening amongst them and only one club hadn't responded...Richmond. When probed the chief of a rival club rolled his eyes and said this was typical.

another thing comes to mind, a friend of mine did some work for the club and had to move heaven and earth to get a payment for his bill.

these are the little things that we need to improve on to be respected again, on and off the field it needs to happen.

Good to see yhat two players (Schulz & Tambling) were named in the best in Shepparton. They are two who've copped a massive pasting on the boards in the two broadcast games so far. Shame this one wasn't.

Let's see how they go in the season proper before hanging them or singing their praises.
These practice matches are designed for just that. Practice.

No doubt it's a big season coming up for both. We'll need these fringies to finally kick on and become consistent if we are to get better as a side.
I certainly hope that they can make the most of their sporadic talents this season. If not that's another matter..
