FWIW I'm an accountant and think that changes to standards like this were not warranted and simply serve to make Financial Statements harder for non accountants to interpret.
I work in FP&A and I agree, its a disaster and completely unrequired. IMO its a revenue raising exercise for the accounting firms. They decide which standard to change regardless of the logic behind it, then charge a fortune to "advise" companies on how to implement.
