G. March on 3AW next (1pm Sunday)

- freo win the best the boys have played for 3 years
- unhappy with negative press last week, especially C. Wilson's article about past players. Deeply offended by that. called it a 'load of rubbish.'
- the mentor role is real and not tokenism
- have spoken to B. Gale about being on the board but he can't due to AFLPA
- culture and feeling is still strong around the club
- loss of friday nite games has hurt us especially commercially, and also the fixture is uneven and unfair.
- lower clubs tend to get a raw deal. however Richmond do ok out of it cos we draw such big crowds.
- meets with C. Wilson all the time, so disappointed with her article. reckons it lacked substance, evidence and didnt like the tone. 'emotional without foundation.'
- has an issue with C. Wilson questioning Miller's integrity.
- freo win has boosted Wallace's morale.
- Gold Coast franchise: doesnt think it will be an issue with renewing player contracts.
- Unhappy with Sheahan's article especially the inference that Wallace cant develop young players. cited thursty and foley etc as proof that Wallace is bringing the kids on. and King, McGuane etc
- Sheahan defended his article saying the jury is still out. cited the progress of Tambling and Lids as example.

Then they spoke to Wallace:

- Wallace rapt with freo win.
- Training has been light this week coming back from Perth. Pretty hot over there last week.
- Wallace asked about media criticism. Didnt seem to fussed. Happy with the direction we are going. Knows more than the press does about the internal workings of the club.
- Richo last week. played up the ground because we needed to change the structure. an eye to the future. ie need to play the developing forwards. give them the opportunity.
- Today's game. Dogs are very fast. Will need to avoid a shoot out. Play tough and in close, but be ready to run. Walls suggests tempo footy might be the order of the day. Wallace says you cant let them score heavily.
- Bowden will need to keep playing well, training well in order to get back in the side. JB played ok yesterday but Wallace not effusive.
- no change to the side.

Gary speaks very well

Had a go at Caro's article, said past players were offended by it
Player mentors not just token jobs
Mike asked about the fixture (we have no friday night games), March feels we are disadvantaged comercially
Walls back on the Caro issue, March smashed the article :hihi
Talked bout the Freo game
Shaw asked bout the new franchises, Gary doesn't see player signings being an issue
Gary talking bout Mike's article and defending the young talent (which Mike questioned)

Cummings talking to Terry now
Light training coming back from WA, more mental prep

Girlfriend called so missed the rest ::)

Sheahan commented that Bowden might be in strife career wise. Shaw and Walls agreed.

Yeah just caught that at the end, Walls elluded to Kellaway and *smile* which was interesting

yes, i noticed that. the inference was that Wallace hadnt been afraid to cut some players who were still worthy of a game in order to bring the youngsters on.. so bowden might be facing the same issue. said he is too 'one way.'

I thought he was 2way..left and right sideways

dont forget he sometimes kicks it backwards as well - that makes it 3-Way - not many of those players around. ;)

If we start winning more than a handful of games per year and play the style of footy on display last week this issue will go away. The TV networks don't want losing sides that generally play a crappy style of footy in prime time slots.

it's crap we dont get Friday games. i used to love going up on a friday nite and still have the whole weekend ahead of me.

I understand the financial reasons, but Friday nights were always the hardest time to attend for me :).

I'm with you there mld. Next worse is Sunday night which we've got this week. I'll be watching that from home.

Worst time for me to go, I'll be in front of the TV (hopefully not throwing beers at it like I want tempted to at the end of the Doggies draw >:D)
