All true except i think you undersell Sidebottom. Outstanding outside link man.

How many did Jack get from the long bomb, probably most were from leading up but i won't be watching the replay to find out.

Yep Sidebottom is a gun and very creative. He's very difficult to stop, you just bank on him getting a lot of disposals and plan around that. He played very outside and was the go to man for Collingwood. Went around at 85% disposal efficiency, amazing for a 41 possession game.

All the slipping over, missed handballs and turnover kicks in the first quarter, before they got their run on, were crucial. Had a few of those opportunities come off and got us out to an early lead anything could have happened.

Re Sidebottom...best DUAL sided midfielder in the AFL. Being able to turn left or right, is such a huge advantage

Yep. Unlike so many left footers who have no right feet and ALWAYS have to either stop, prop and get on the left (usually pretending there’s nothing further afield so I’d better stop and get on my left and look for a better option) or try the left foot kick angled “inwards” and often miss the target.

What this game also showed is that without Rance helping the other defenders they are just good ordinary players. Defies belief why Grimes didn't start on De Goey

Sidebottom is a natural right foot kick. I think you'll find many RIGHT and many LEFT foot kickers have no opposite, it's not just an issue for left footers (and yes I am a left footer with no right ;D).

A lack of an opposite side seems more pronounced in left footers.

We are a structural process driven team if DeGroey goes full foward then Rance or Astbury takes him. Without that process and structure we don't win last year and without it we don't succeed next year either. Collingwood have taken some of our aspects and game plan but they are not as process driven as us which means I doubt they have the same longevity as us.

Really? Any stats to support this? Worst opposite side kick I reckon we ever had at the Tigers was Nahas. Couldn't kick on his left whatsoever.

To be fair to Nahas - He was an ordinary kick on his right as well. So may have in fact been the most "both sided" player in the team at the time.

Midfielders. Every pick we have in this years draft has to be mids.
We need to get a quality ruckman from somewhere. Any in the Sanfl or Wafl?

Maybe go to the fn U.S.A. And pick up a one match wonder. Gee he tore us a new one last nite. We needed someone "brave" to stand in front of him.

When will coaches learn that playing injured players in a big final backfires every time.

Must not be in those level 3 coaching courses. Clubs at every level fall for it year after year.

I have never been in the situation but in a team game when does the player have the responsibility to say the team will be better off without me? The more courageous decision might be to say I am not right than try to be heroic and play hurt.

This is why it's better for teams to have a slump in the season. We rode too high at number 1 spot and concentrating on the MCG winning streak.

Not saying we had to manufacture a slump but maybe we didn't tweak the game plan enough or rotate enough players through the ones to keep things fresh. eg the second ruck issue was not addressed. Only 1 new player.

Mind blowing that match up.
Got it right it after half time but by then it was too late.
Poor coaching

That FlkN winning streak.
We had top 4 sown up at the bye, we had top 2 sown up 6 weeks ago. Was Hardwick scared not to drop to 3rd not to go interstate in the finals?
I think they took there eye of ball. The streak should've ended, losing interstate was another monkey we carried all year
I couldn't believe he didn't give Balta or Carthwaite (more) a game.

And there were fitness queries over most of them.

From when it was 10 goals to 1 until 10 minutes into the last quarter we actually had the better of the game and scored 6 goals to 2 in that period.

The issue was that even though we had lots of opportunity during that time we weren’t fluent and we relied a lot on jack to score. There is no doubt in my mind the club knows the one key forward style was never going to last, hence the pursuit of Lynch.

From 9 goals behind we were never going to win but we also didn’t make the most of our opportunities when we were well in the game in general play. I reckon that has been an issue all year, we don’t convert on field dominance to scoring well enough and we have got away with it simply because of the weight of forward 50 entries
