Game Day - Richmond v Fremantle

Did Clarke sabotage us??
The 5 in 30 are abysmal and don't give me Brown, I've seem more urgency from 95yr old.
You’re having a bad night my friend…today doesn’t matter. A lot of good came out of today.
Faull tick
Luke tick
Mrj tick, surprised me

Not sure if anyone already said this but we really missed Lalor today. Remember he had 10 score involvements last week. Makes our ball movement a lot lot better.

Terrible miss by that goose. A clear trip if accidental. Doesn’t matter still a free but not to us of course.

I dunno, on the replay it looked like the freo guys fingertips might have brushed the edge of MRJs heel… it looked kinda innocuous, certainly wasn’t a grab or anything like that. I can understand why it wasn’t paid… not sure I would have.

I reckon if something like that were paid against one of our guys we’d have people going nuts about how much the afl hates the tiges blah blah blah.

Anyway, it’s not as if it was the difference between winning and losing on the day

1 goal, 2 pts after the 8 minute mark of the 2nd quarter is just deplorable. We turned up our toes in a shocking effort. They embarrassed the jumper today. I feel bad for those who travelled to Adelaide.

Got belted across half forward after half time. Blight better suited down back the answer. Taranto hopper do they have the gun to play out a strong full game.

A disappointing 2nd half, don't know whether we ran out of legs, it may have been the heat.

Player availability over the next month will be fascinating with some boys due back shortly. Love our competeviness but when we stop we fall away badly. Our disposal was horrid in the second half.

If mansell deserved 3 then this bloke deserves at least 6.
Swung the arm with a closed fist. Hit the shoulder first but high, intentional and severe - gotta be at least 4. I suspect Vlastuin may miss a couple too.

We ran out of energy and courage.

It's gonna be a long rebuild and hard work for our coaches and players to get us back on top. Instead of bagging Yze and the players our frustration should be aimed at the previous administration who failed to implement a succession plan and our previous recruiters who botched alot of draft picks.

Yep, it's really noticeable but I find that when I look at most teams against us now. Either black is very 'slimmimg' or there are some real questions about our gym program, Maybe RFC puts more priority on stamina, aerobic fitness for 4Q gut running (which our younger players cannot manage yet) but we usually look slighter than the oppo to me.
I was also struck by how their bigs looked so much more powerful than ours: Pearce, Treacy, Voss/Hoss whatever, Cox and they were w/o Jackson who would have had a day out most likely.

Darcy is a plough-horse now and Amiss is patchy still, but these guys really monstered our guys, even TL because they are in their prime and still fast and athletic. Tom blew up and seems to have no spring left (but I'm giving him plenty of time to regain form and match fitness btw).
Our mature bigs are Nank, Lynch, Miller and Balta. None of them lack size or power.
Ryan is obviously slow to develop. The rest of our talls are kids or new.

IMO Miller is tall and lean but a more lightly built athletic body compared to the others above. These heavier types are harder to knock or move aside out of position. From my observation and others, if you look at the comments on PRE, Miller likes to sit off rather than go body-to-body. That might be his best way of competing against power forwards like Treacy in his mind. (We are not allowed to check their respective weights any more, right?)

If you throw in Darcy, who is a massive body, bigger and heavier than Nank I think but Nank competed very well against him, and Amiss who is like Miller but still 196cm, that makes 7 major KPPs for Freo to our 4.

So my POV remains unchanged. The lack of a 'power body' is what is holding Ryan back and who knows if he can alter this enough. We could have used him yesterday and he may have to come in if TL is going to be out. Bauer is no answer to anything IMO.

[If Balta was available yesterday with no qualms at all, who would you play first choice on Treacy? Him or Miller? Why? Btw, Balta is very powerful but still only 194cm]
