Game day thread....Dreamtime at the G

Can someone please shed some light on this for me?

7 minute mark, 3rd quarter, City end. Winderlich takes a mark on 50 and obviously considers himself too far out to score. He's looking for the short pass into the forward line. Richmond have flooded back but as usual are not standing right next to their opponents. Jobe Watson makes two dummy leads that are ignored. He is being semi-marked by a lazy *smile* RFC player who is not within 5 metres of him. It was at the opposite end of the ground and could see this unfolding. I said to Redford that Watson will end up with the ball 30 metres out directly in front. Sure enough, Watson makes the 3rd lead and the lazy *smile* RFC player completely ignores him. Watson marks and goals.

As I was at the other end I could not quite make out who the RFC player was. Does anyone remember this instance and if so do they know who the player was? To me this just epitomises the current RFC list. They REFUSE to work hard and they REFUSE to think. How *smile*ing hard is it to stand next to an opponent to make sure he can't get an easy kick. This player just refused to do it. It was SOFT. It was LAZY. It was DUMB.

This club will never go anywhere with this group of players. They are *smile*ing soft; they are *smile*ing lazy, they are *smile*ing dumb. They are basically just sh!t footballers all round. It matters not who is coach. They are just a bunch of massive losers.

Nah - it was Tuck - he was on Watson all game up until then - he IMO beat Watson hands down in the first half - but at that point in the game he was lost and Watson got an easy goal - Wallace dragged Tucky for that and put Cotchin on Watson from what I could see and Watson wiped the floor with him - too strong and a step ahead of the kid - Essendon during this time kicked 4 goals in 5 minutes - gained the ascendency and the rest is history.......

The thing is Remote, how many times during the whole game did they casually hit an unmarked target in the forward-50.... :-\

That's disappointing. Tuck's usually better at stuff like that. And I can tell you he didn't get lost; it was plain bloody laziness and stupidity.

Thanks for confirming anyway.

Hey Livers when the skipper is as loose as an IBS movement, how can the other defenders know any different although I thought Muscles tried hard.

Well, after following Richmond for 44years I have had ENOUGH.
Watching that little boy crying in the Q3 or was it Q4 said the whole story.
My daughter would come with me every week to the footy, now she is 22 and doesnt give a damn, all she can say is "I was scarred for life"
I think I should just put a dvd movie on next Saturday night and enjoy myself than put up with this *smile*.

You're not wrong mate :-\

...but gee, we are so loose through the middle.

Also, in most of the games so far this season....we get 3/4/5 goals up in the first half and then just before half time, its like a directive goes out to start changing the gameplan.
We start chipping it more...little 10-15m kicks that usually fall at the feet of the target, which leads to a turnover, and allows the opposition back into the game.

I think it was the 3rd quarter.....Bowden was kicking out, decided to pass the ball 15m to a Richmond player in the back pocket and the ball travelled at knee height and bounced before it reached the target....and then the backline are under immediate pressure.
Just these skill errors from (supposedly) AFL level players is just *smile*. >:(

Welcome to PRE jgarg - like you I started my love affair with the tigers in the '60s and seeing that kid crying and his dad trying to console him - hurts - my 6yo 3rd son burst into tears too during the 3rd quarter and he just left the lounge room and went to bed - I stick around because I just want to be part of the RFC when we are a good team again - premiership material - looks like we are both going to have to live way passed retirement age ol' mate.......

Both my kids teenagers just don't care anymore. They have suffered too long. Daughter who was regular just laugh it off we lost again?

Son embarrassed to even put the colours on.

Daughter has not been for years. Son comes once or twice a year. (I still pay their memberships & support the club)

40+ years as well and I hope the club begins to realise they we lose a generations of supporters that in the long run will kill this club off in the future.

WAKE RFC, WAKE UP !

rather than respond to every thread I'll put my 2 bobs here:

Negatives: Conners, bloody disgraceful effort, pathetic, going one handed, the worst in my book, pretending he was working hard when it was obvious he couldn't be stuffed.

Raines, not good enough. Tambling, ditto, Pattison, tries hard but can't take a mark. You cannot have 197 p[layers who can't take a mark.. Simmons, gone.

Positives: Jackson, great game, ironing out the clangers, tough as nails, never gives up doing tough, hard things. Foley, getting back to form, Nahas, fingers crossed we may have found a player, Deledio, just keeps getting better, growing in stature and leadership.

Also, I reckon Polo and White are steadily improving, may not be stars but definate potential to contribute. Polos ability to keep his feet really impresses me. White just keeps plugging away and improving steadily.

Good post, Yep raines and patto not good enough, how many times did simmonds go for the ball and just rolls under his legs, just plotting along simmonds...
Tambling who i would say has had a good month fell back into old ways last night, too lazy and clumsy, did not chase and gave up to early, he should look at nahas who chases and harasses at every opportunity...

Jackson who i have been critical of, played well last night and generally used the ball well too...growing in stature but i want more consistency in his ball use and decision making was good last night but if he can add that “over all skills and decision making on a constant basis to his clearance work and hardness he will be a very good player...

Yeah Polo is playing well and uses the ball, white has been good too IMO...

Foley did well has been a bit lost this year but played well as did Lids wasn’t his normal high possession game but many times tried to take the man on with running bounces which was good to see and also won some hard clearances in the packs which resulted in the team gaining valuable possessions, great goal too in that 1st qtr... Nahas luv him, excitement machine his endeavour and willingness to chase and tackle is a highlight...

Just watched the replay and noticed three things:

- Connors just STOOD around the forward line waiting for a pass during the final quarter when the game was
still winnable (this kid's a passenger).
- The turning point was when Lovett-Murray gave Pettifer a shoulder and no players (except Cogs) fronted
Lovett-Murray.
- Bummers had more forwards than us.
- The streaker looked like a KID !!

Should never play another game. Seriously needs to get off the *smile* and pull his finger out before he gets on the end of a delisting.
If he put in anywhere near the effort Andrew Collins has in his short career then he would be a very solid contributor for the Richmond Football Club.

We have to be easy on the One Trick Pony he has been set back with injury and hasn't had a good preparation to the season.

Connors is the type we need to change our culture, he would of been the only one after the Essendon game with a big smile having a great chat to one of the opposition players, while the rest of our boys were spitting chips down in the dumps. I'll say it again, Connors will do wonders for our culture. :P

It certainly made me wonder what he had to grin about. Reckon he was our weakest link the other night.

The one handed efforts had me scratching my head, here is a kid who's capable of taking a good mark but those efforts were half hearted at the contest. He had to do better.
What I was really disappointed by was his lack of pace, just doesn't look anywhere near fit/quick enough.
I'd perhaps give him another game but he's on notice.

Concerning that another talented youngster isn't coming on..
