Game Day Thread R21 versus StKilda

I actually think that astbury looks much more settled in the backline - the couple of times they've thrown him forward in recent games he's looked lost and hasn't had any impact.

I likes the footage on tv when Dimma was talking to the boys at 3/4 time.

Did you see how intense and fixated Nahas's eyes were on Dimma??
Awesome stuff.

Then, when the huddle broke, Nahas gives Dimma a pat on the shoulder! :o

Just goes to show how tight a bunch the Tiges are now.

Cannot wait for next year!

Love my Tigers!! :hihi :clap

Just a quick question for someone that is more schooled in the art of identifying gameplans and structures.

What exactly do you think Newmans role was yesterday ?

I noticed he had a fair bit of bench time and wasn't involved in the crust of it as per usual for most of the day.
And i dont at all accept match up purposes as the reason. Actually i think it was a pre-medatated action, just can't for the life of me work out what and why. ???

Agree with most of that.

Some negatives but a lot of positives today. Only lost to St Kilda by 21 points. Would take that at the start of the day. On paper it could've been a 10 goal+ drubbing.

I don't know much about betting.....does that mean we would have been a good bet at the line?

That's the coach seeing how the young fellas handle it without him and Cuz on the ground

Newman seemed to spend a bit of time up forward yesterday.

The tiges are experimenting with positions for the last month. Newman was playing abit of a defensive forward at times yesterday. The tiges have packed up shop so are just moving players around to see if players have flexibility or not.

One of our best efforts of the season for mine. A whole heap of positives t come from that game.
Agreed. Competitive for pretty much 4 quarters against the 3rd best team in the business. Played an attractive style of play, scored 6 goals in the first quarter against a defence that has conceded this many in a quarter only a handful of times over the past few years, and took risks.

Those risks ended up costing us the game through turnovers, but they also set up a lot of scoring opportunities. A lot to like, particularly following on from last week's non-competitive effort.

couldn't have said better myself. very risky game plan yesterday but geez, wasn't it great to watch.
young players like we have will make the mistakes like we made yesterday but for me, I hope we stick with it and improve next year.
Someone else said it earlier. In 2 years :clap

I know it is strange to dsay so given the margin but that was about our best game for the year in my opinion.
If Cuz had've played the 2nd half, Newy had've shown up and Martin had a bit of luck we would've claimed it.
Not sure why Beavis didn't [put a harder tag on Montagne in the second half. Hate to say it but we probably missed Jacko pretty badly. Seems to me Beavis stuck with the Martin/ Morton - Montagne match too long. Should've had Tuck on him for the whole game.
Otherwise very happy. Lots of positives.

Spot on Evo, was also thinking it was one of our best of the year. Only the Saints experienced players and our inexperience/fatigue got them over the line. Jeez I can't wait until 2-3 years time when we start turning the tables on them and mathcing up better physically. On talent alone I reckon we've got them covered.
No way can you win a flag with a bottom 6 selected from Geary/Gwilt/Blake/McQualter/Armitage/Ray/Dempster/Pattison/Peake. Wouldn't want any of them in Tigers colours

Heard on post match radio that Newman has an injured hip.

They should rest him next week if this is the case, and may explain his poor form the past couple of weeks.

not experimenting with newman but moving him out of half back to give another bloke a chance there.... but since he is injured i suppose thats the reason

After the lions winning today expect Hardwick to come out locked and loaded (sorry) for a massive win next week.

First week in a while ive got to see the tiges live. Was quite pleased we fought it out after a blow out was on the cards in the last quarter. Pleasing to see the graph continuing to move in the right direction. Gourdis looked like he is worth persevering with at full back. Troy Taylor has excitement written all over him. The two whipping boys King and Rance put in good efforts as well.

Yep, bring it on. I hope we just go all out to win for Cuz, I hope Jack kicks 5 to win the Coleman, and I hope we belt Port in the end.

Or sucking up to make sure he's on the list next year

One of the things I liked against the Saints was the form of the fringe players, simply appears DH can get 100% out of most players
