Game Day thread- Round 2 Vs Cats

Not a bad show from Hislop. Would've been nice to see what Adam Thompson could have added to the team today re toughness.

think thompson is still injured

Was generally a far more accountable and tougher style of play today by the tiges. I reckon being a bit mentally fragile in the end cost us the game.

In my super coach team I had Ablett, Corey, Newman, Lids and Brown - all did very good!!! Simmonds and Foley didnt do so well this week though ....

30 scoring shots to 20. What would the score have been had Geelong kicked straight earlier?

They didn’t why do people say this, had they kicked straighter, like in the grand final u cant take it back...

I could easily and i mean easily say the umps gave them 4 goals, the double goal and the Jackson tackle to give away 50myts was a terrible umpiring decision that gave the cats a goal, so in that 3rd Qtr there 3 goals pretty much came from the umps with mooney kicking a goal from a Jake king turnover but the umpires giving the cats so many 50's really hurt...And just remembered the same thing happened in the 1st Qtr and cats got a goal...

Tought to beat the umps let alone Geelong

hit it in one mate, some of those soft frees in the 3rd kept the cats in it i repeat kept the cats in it, we could’ve easily gone in at 3 qtr time 2 goals up, bowdo kicked the goal in the last and from there who knows what could’ve happened...

I am spewing we lost but we gave our all and had a fair dinkum dip...

The last 10 mins the cats were pretty good ran in numbers and hit targets and that was the difference in the end just to polished but i cannot fault our teams endeavour compared to last weeks debacle...

We weren’t just playing in any team we played a team who’s played in the last 2 grand finals and at their home ground, there’s a lot to look fwd to..

Hislop luv his hardness, Nahas still learning the caper but i can see him getting better and better with confidence, kept chasing and harassing...Rance great debut 18 disposals and hard as nails, gave us good run...Polo too, thought he did well didn’t dominate but went ok, goes in hard too.

What im saying is we brought in guys who took it up to the cats and youngsters to boot...Like the hawks we didn’t back down to any pushing and shoving i said we cant come to this ground and get intimated we need to hit back and i dare say the team as a whole went in pretty hard...

Over the next month if we add in players like Cotchin, Cousins, Connors, Coghlan, Collins and Thompson gee this team is going to look a hell of a lot better...
More class and hardness around the ball and goals.

Correct Astute One, Geelong could have kicked straight but they didnt, thats bad footy. You can talk about ifs and buts forever but its only the end result that counts.

Nahas was totally overwhelmed and made silly decisions.
Im a little concerned about McGuane - he seems to have lost some of his

nahas will be fine , its his first senior game...he's a live wire and will only get better

yeah ave game by mcguane but i must say i was more concerned about moore today one of the worst games ive seen him play, 14 possies but at least half of them went to the opposition, just couldnt hit a target....Moore who is a good player and i have to say he's disposal in general is quite good but today bordering on terrible...

3 goals given up by 3 of the sides least footy aware players in McGuane, King and Jackson which were very very costly.

Jacksons was a bit stiff but the other 2 were there its in the rules and dumb footy hurt yet again, added to the other free kick goal King gave away early.

yeah craig mcguane and king gave up goals but id let jacko off and replace his give away goal to the ump...terrible decision..

Agree completely Astute. If we had kicked straight in a few games last year we would have played finals!

Good to see the kick to handball ratio back up. Still only 51 tackles - 3 less than last week.

Looking forward to watching the game.

But the tackle difference was ok they only had 50 odd as well. Agree on the kicks.

Ok, I'll ask you the same question as i did with Craig but didnt receive a response - which goal are you saying king gave up?

I suspect it was the one he kick directly to Mooney under no pressure in the third.

That was a shocker and i agree. The other two goals he got against him in chapman and johnson was disgraceful decisions against him which both resulted in goals. Cheers WT- thanks for taking the time out to respond mate.

That’s the disappointment with King TT; he generally turns it over when he is under little pressure.

I have no idea about the Johnson free. If it was paid for high contact from the bump why wasn't King reported and/or a 50m paid?

kicked it straight to mooney, running from the back pocket, switched play and had a guy free on the other side HBF he made the right play to kick it to where it was supposed to go but it was just a terrible kick, no penatration and fell straight into the hands of mooney who goaled and that was when mcguane punched it and the cats got a double goal...

it happened rigth in front of me that king bump, he hit johnson on the chest but johnson played it up and the ump fell for it, disgraceful decision...we all then looked at the scoreboard, u know that cheap home hardware scoreboard and the replay clearly showed king bump him in the chest and not his head...
