Game Day Thread - Sydney Swans v Richmond

Highlight in a loss was Dimma sending Cotchin back on to the ground after the game to practise kicking for goal from 20 metres.

Did Dimma send him back on or did he go out on his own accord?

We are all guessing, I presume?

Of course.

But either way it's good. Whether Chimp did it on his own, or whether Beavis sent him out to practice after that costly miss, it's all good for the club.

I have no doubt Dimma told him to go out and practise. As I said earlier players do what they are told. If it is warm down and then attend the post match meeting, that is what they do. If the coach says go and practise kicking for goal in the driving rain, that is what they do. Its about time the players who make simple mistakes are held to account.

True.

Really? I dont think ive ever seen a player go out after a game and practice their goal kicking after the siren. Not for a number of years and certainly not in the AFL. Maybe that's what Richo was missing out on.

Don't think I have seen Gus practice rucking after a game either! :hihi

Did the drive about three years ago by car, it's a 12 hour ride.

By bus and with the extra traffic, I reckon it is going to be 15.
Not the ideal recovery for a game at the Gabba on Saturday.

Will be a very, very light week. Back Monday night, light run Tuesday, off Wednesday, Light Thursday off to Brisbane Friday morning.

Makes next week a much tougher ask.

Scenic route?

othing better than a road trip.

Reckon you under rate the Swans.

Swans set for a top six finish IMO, and while a flag is unlikely, they will take a few scalps with them. that being said, they are one side that can beat any team on their day.

Reckon you over rate them. Long way fom the better sides, will get pantsed in Melb in the finals. Can't play that brand of footy at the G and win in 2011.

I think you underate the Swans, especially at the G. Play well there. May surprise a few people if they make it especially with Mumford back in. They are on a par with Carlscum.

We talking about Sydney or Freo?

Leysy's positives -
Chimp & Dusty. Two future champions of the game had truely outstanding games. 27 contested possessions, 15 clearances & 10 tackles between them. Stars. Both of them.
Negatives -
That when our two best players have such massive matches our lesser players cant pick up the slack enough to get us over the line.
We just have too many guys that dont have enough influence on the match week to week. Partly because some are inexperienced. Partly because some are simply not good enough.

I didn;t get to see the whole game but a bit of chimp criticism -
1. He needs to start converting those shots on goal.
2. If he chooses to fly for marks in the forwrad line against our forwards he needs to mark them. Twice he flew in front of a pack, twice he dropped them when he had first touch. If you're not gonna take em stay front and square.
