GAME DAY - Tigers v GWS - another day at the office

Still a little filthy on the game as I hate to be so wasteful up front.

But as the dust settles and other results go our way you just think that maybe a loss to take the air out of the balloon isn’t such a bad thing.

Thank *smile* for the saints this week. And thank *smile* for three training drills to finish the year.

Same here. I don't hang it on 1 player, but geez that number 11 guernsey keeps flashing in front of my eyes. WTF was he thinking, especially that simple dropped mark in the 1st Q??

Surprised Ellis missed out after his great tagging job on Kelly.

We are masters of defensive transition and the creation of turnovers. Absolute geniuses.

But we seriously struggle to handle fast clearances.

GWS had big mids standing at the drop to dish it off. We’re missing two with graham and Conca out. We need to draft another.

I don't think any defence can handle a fast clearance with quality delivery to the forwards. The midfield is key. Win it out of there or at least make sure the clearance is slow and/or hurried and inaccurate and you are in a great position to win.

Not sure what game you were watching. It was robbery gws s way. Can't believe we lost this one. More scoring shots more inside 50s more marks inside 50 more tackles inside 50. These are the stats that win us games. Highway robbery all right.

Absolutely agree GWS didnt win it, we lost it. I lost count of how many missed goals, dropped marks in front of goals (castagna and Edwards) and some crucial turnovers and still only lost by 2 points.

yet Leon Cameron talks up how they stopped us? what a knob. and the AFL site puts up a "blueprint" on how to beat us and mentions GWS?
i guess its flattery....

Our defence wasn't firing. Our midfield wasn't close to its best. Our forward line spluttered. We were playing a star studded prelim finalist from last year.

How did we deserve to win that?

Media don’t care if they fill up their news with crap.
As long as it’s full.

Exactly DDT.

All sorts of media outlets put a blueprint when a side beats us or runs us close.

Heck even I've been guilty.

What I do know is if we are switched on, take our chances , sides can't go with us for 4 quarters( most games ) .

GWS won. Got the 4 points. We lost and Cameron stopped us. Good. We wait for the return bout.

Yep. He at least had pace

JON was a much worse selection than C Ellis. Pace means jack if you have no skill whatsoever. JON played 13 games over 4 seasons for an average of 7.6 disposals. West Coast then rookie drafted him and he never played again.

When was the last time we lost a return bout? Even Sydney we got back this year.

September at the G beckons for the Eagles, Poort and the Giant Waste of Space

Yep. We lost the game, they didn't win.

Agree. Missed so many relatively easy shots including OOFs. The only thing I will say is GWS did do well in preventing us applying our forward half pressure to its usual efficiency giving us those easy turnover goals. We had 64 inside 50s, our average per game this year is 59.1. Opposition scored 77 points, our average opponent score this year is 73. It wasn't lack of opportunity or not being able to keep the opposition score down, squarely it was on our poor conversion rate. Castagna was the worst but so many others missed opportunities as well. Just have to put it down as one that got away.
