A garbage match.....actually tipped us to win, seeing the Eagles had a few players out (Kerr, Wirrpunda, Embley, Sampi, etc)....and we had been playing quite well.
Also, the Eagles I thought might be a little 'tentative' and didn't want to get any injuries right before the finals series began, where we had nothing to lose.
And we were playing at the 'G....a place where the Eagles don't usually play at their best.
Well...was I wrong...
Really disappointed.
If the players didn't want to play.....may as well have picked 22 people fromt he crowd to have a dip...least we would have shown more heart.
Wonder whether the way Kellaway has been treated may have had an effect on some of the players....some might be a bit bitter about things, one way or the other.
Hi Liverpool,
are you sure you were at the same game that the rest of us were at on Saturday?
I saw all of our players busting their guts against a far superior opposition and I doubt whether anyone from the crowd, even including myself, would even have got ONE KICK out there against the most likely Premiers who came to kick our butts and launch themselves into a successful final series.
You've put up some really good posts that I have enjoyed since the World Diving Championships ended but this one is way out of left field.
Can you list the Tigers who didn't "want to play" in Chaff and Staffs' last game?
Rimau,
Yes, unfortunately, I was at the MCG watching 38 goals get scored....but the "World Diving Champs" (as you like to call them) that had a crowd of 40,000, watching a team that did try their guts out, was far more passionate than the inept display I witnessed earlier in the day...(and only 5 goals were scored!

)
And you can talk for yourself about not getting a kick....I would have got myself one, even if I had to do a 'soccer dive' in front of the ump to get it! :hihi
List the Tigers?
I think that has been done to death on various threads, where people have called for players heads, etc....however, you can just look at the stats:
* We had 2 players get over 25 possessions....they had 6 that got over 25 (and Judd had 24 and got 3 goals!)...and young'un like LeCras comes in out of nowhere, gets 5 goals....the stats go on, and do not lie.
* Schulz.....0 kicks, 0 marks...for a leading-forward
* Roach....5 possessions in 100 minutes on the ground (3 of them in the 1st quarter).
....Tivendale's turnovers, Stafford with his height and bulk having only 3 marks, they had nearly 100 more possessions.... etc, etc, etc....how many do you want?
Using the "most likely Premiers" tag as an excuse for the rubbish I watched on Saturday is poor mate.....the Eagles had been beaten the week before by Freo, by 10 goals.
The Eagles had been beaten by Collingwood (a team we beat easily!) only a few weeks ago.
The Eagles have a poor record at the 'G....had players out (Wirrpunda, Kerr, Gardiner, Nicoski, Embley)....and even if you don't look at the stats, just the way we went about it was the most disappointing.
Laziness, lack of run, not shepherding or helping out team-mates, not manning-up, not running hard into space to give the ball-carrier an option....I could go on.
These facets of the game cannot be coached....its up to the PLAYERS to implement those simple rules of teamwork on the field.
What we showed as that we don't work hard enough as a team....the Eagles were prepared to do that.
