Game day v Dogs

Just saw the team we fielded this week had the least games of experience out of any team in the competition. Another massive positive for those on here who like to look past the scoreboard.

Young legs looked tired in the last, our captain was heroic

Disappointed with the loss but we're not that far off I reckon.Judging by other results this season could be a lottery cone seasons end.

Great for the game and competition!

The young kids are holding their own if not lifting us a level. Butler George markov all doing their jib and more on occasions this year. I think it's time we keep investing in this improvement and move on the stagnant older players who are not gonna improve from the avg players they are. Houli Griggs this is you guys!!

The style we play allows us to be competitive without needing to smash the clearances. Agree that we were poor there tonight, but there's a lot to like about what we did around that. Their ball use is blistering in tight (especially because they're allowed to throw the ball), but we actually beat them on the outside until we ran out of legs. Two 6 day breaks really hurt us.

When we attack, we're extremely efficient, and actually buggered up a number of easy opportunities tonight. And one 50/50 goes the other way tonight, and we're all taking about all the things we did right.

Good sides lose to other good sides. We have a lot if improvement from here (conca/nank/edwards/prestia/flossy for a start).

I think the thing is, last week, I was worried. We got absolutely trounced. This week showed we can mix it with the big boys. We keep beating the sides we should, and we win a couple of these tough ones against the top four sides, and we finish a top four side.

It's good news.

Not convinced. They had much better entries and the fact they only took seven marks in f50 is something bevo will be concerned about.

Journos know we were killed by the dumpires, they ask Dimma, Dimma sucks the dumpires up.......you can't win. You're too nice Dimma.....FMD.

easy this is all pie in the sky stuff.

we were smashed by the dogs in general play. smashed. no flow. no link.

scoreboard flattered us and was down to astbury and rance.

good desperation and intensity but until we can develop some clean ball we are a mediocre side. period.

Spot on, hit the nail on the head. They controlled the game at the contest, got 1st use constantly, won the contested ball but just as importantly had numbers on the outside, we were consistently out numbered, that is what eventually & inevitably loss us the game. Yeh the umps made some crucially bad decisions that went against us but if it wasn't for our defence holding us & our early lead, we would of lost comfortably. We lost Vlas which hurt us but they lost Stringer & then Dunkley I think it was late. I'm inebriated typing this on my phone, still out & about but we weren't the best team tonight. Proud how we now fight out games, worried that we have lost our confidence of the first 5 rounds & more importantly, the game style that we adopted. We have gone back to a more safe, slow, negative game style, ala 2016 & previous.

Exactly. Tell it like it is some decisions we're ridiculous. Bevo won and he had a go at the decisions
yeah nah the were okay. *smile*!!!!

What steaming pile of .....Seriously?

Do you think any real Richmond supporter is not hurting after that loss ? Are you or are you happy to gloat?

The team tried their guts out tonight. We had 5-6 regulars out, we got royally shafted but we still should have won. Not good enough and we have to get better. I want to see us smash the dockers next week.

If you think that means I and others think near enough is good enough you are not paying attention or it just suits your agenda.

Get off your high horse. Go and have a look at the umpire thread and see everyone blaming the umpires for the loss. Now that's a steaming pile of.........

Seriously; you just can not handle anyone who doesn't share your view of the world. I don't care what you think. That was yet another game we absolutely blew and it was our own fault. Poor skill; *smile* decision making. No gloating here. I am pissed off that we have blown another winnable game. That's all this is.

And as you are so enlightened; what is my agenda?

The walls were falling in for most of the second half, it was a minor miracle that we managed to stay in front for most of it and fight back when headed. We have far less talent than the opposition.

In a five-point game where the rub of the green has clearly gone against us, people are naturally going to look at the green *smile*s.

Good post. We were comprehensively beaten in the second half and dunno wha the team stats were in the last but i suspect we were smashed.

coburg you've been on the money recently but this is incorrect imo.

we were owned by their mids. the margin on the scoreboard reflected their woes up forward, not our own merit.

we are playing without any synchronicity.
Their woes up forward were largely due to an immense effort by our backs Baron which is also part of the game. Have a look at the port and west coast stats today. Similar picture except the eagles won.

The guys up back were very brave tonight

Spot on... we would currently be one of the better teams in the comp at intercept defensive marking.

You've gotta win them when they are there to be won. We led for 80% plus of the game. Diabolical skills and terrible decisions cost us the game. Questions should rightly be asked.

True. Fact is we gave up a five goal plus lead.

Grigg, Lambert and Castagna are real momentum killers going forward. Modern footy is so quick to penalise the errant disposal going inside 50 and for every good thing they do their just seems to be equally as many fizzers.

Oh and those having a go at Martin :hihi Hero ball? Its Ok if Jack does it though.... champion...

Corey Ellis 2016 v Conca 2017

Less disposals
Less clangers
More efficiency

Adequate replacement

oh and he got 20 posessions three times last year, including the last game before he was injured.
Sorry Bill but tonight proved 2 things:

Conca was a massive out

C. Ellis is nowhere near the player he should be.

Grigg, yep, massive momentum killer. Get, stop, hold, get on to left, bomb it high.

Only in the last. He was pretty ordinary for the rest of the game

So strange. I look through the team and I struggle to find outstanding players tonight yet we only lost by 5 points.
Effort can't be questioned but it can best be described as a scrappy, valiant loss. Pretty ordinary game to watch.
Still I expected a far worse result so will take it.

Yeah sure, there were things we could've done better but there weren't any Houli bombing up the middle v Freo moments.

I'm sad, we're all sad that we came up short but on the balance of things I don't think it was a performance to rip into the players for and say "You threw it away".
