Gameday - Hawthorn v Richmond

Simmonds on AW - says ankle is good, match fitness isn't. Thought 1st quarter was good, but then played the wings, chipping around, not easy for the forwards.

Trying to ease him back in first few games. Hoping to build up game time by end of year.
Obviously the ankle isnt too good. If he cant train he shouldnt be playing.

Our skills must be the worst in the league & we will be exposed in the next month against quality sides.

SEND THE SIDE TO WATCH A COBURG GAME ATLEAST THEY BELIEVE THEY CAN WIN AND HAVE THE SKILLS TOO.

Well said Checkers, i doubt Simmo is fit and if he is not right with some issues remaining with an already dodgy ankle then i also believe he should be in the grandstand getting better for next year.

Theyve gone to the effort of elevating Gus so they may as well give him a run rather than risk more serious injury to Simmo.

I think the boys played at their level today. They are just not good enough.

On the bright side, a couple more losses like that will have to see some of our serial disappointers packing their bags for early retirement at the end of the year. Goodbye Brent.

Just mentioned on MMM that Kane Johnson had a kicking efficiency of 53% today. 53%!

How, when so many of his kicks were uncontested ones with little pressure, could he possibly have a efficiency rating of just 53% ? !

Johnson looks like he is going to fall over every time he gets the ball. He must have a inner ear infection or be playing drunk. Not sure.

Goodbye Brent.

Brent is the least of our problems this year. Those letting us down week after week, the same ones who were supposed to have us thereabouts for finals participation but have contributed to the team going backwards, are of more concern to me..

I'm starting to turn up the heat on our coach, yeah I know we've been through it before, but let me tell you that the rot is starting to set in on the suntanned one.

We shouldn't lay the blame solely on our players.

It was a fair display of how far behind we are. We need another 3 drafts to get any depth in the list.

What made it worse was Bircahll running and carrying, Lewis getting hard ball after hard ball.

We need to find these type of young footballers. Both have nothing impressive about them physically nor will they win any athletic contests but the just know how to play football.

HAHAHAHA...................ANT's , that's a perfect analogy of our predicament , just don't have the "Horses" to compete at this level , plain and simple.

We have maybe 6 to 8 players capable of competing week in , week out , the rest of our list are VFL level player's and will never be anything more.

Say what you want , the scores on the board , results don't lie.

Yet I'm sure there are some that will come up with excuses , it's way past getting OLD , come up with something New at least , It's getting boring repeating the same old reasons as to why we are in this predicament , Poor Front Office decisions , Poor Coaching , Poor Playing List ....................if you think any different , Fair enough , but you'll always be happy with backing a LOSER.

What poor front office decisions?

I've been pretty optimistic lately but really what option do we have but to back Wallace? We can't sack him, we'd have a huge payout and wouldn't attract any sort of coach. They're turning over the list, the signs are there that some have clearly had their papers stamped.

Week after week it's the same offenders who keep turning the ball over, Tuck, Johnson and Raines all had efficiency rates of between 50 and 60 % yet picked up over 20 possesions, that's a hell of a lot of errors from 3 players. Time to put these guys on the open market (Johnson looks finished) and see what we can get.

Most of our players looked demoralised today.

Richo looked to have had enough. He's been playing with a fractured skull. The others don't look that keen. I reckon he gave up and I don't blame him.

Shows where the two clubs are at.

One had an eye on making the hard decisions from the ground up, recruit the players required and kept the rest to help this plan.

The other, came to the club, (to the club with the best list he said) , yet has made terrible blunders, decisoins and has based a game plan that either the players cant adhere too or to put it frankly do not have the engine, work rate and skill to execute, but wait there is more- lets wait till 2011 for sustained success. This will never happen while terry , greg continue to make the same mistakes (3 years in ) we are in a bad state on the field and it hurts like hell.....

Hey Rosy, you're starting to sound like you're a beaten lady. Not like you ;)

I agree that some hard questions need to be directed at Terry Wallace. I would question his game plan.

Everyone around me in the crowd could see that we had no effective strategy to get the ball out of defence.....thus the sideways kicks and desperate, hopeless handballs.
