Gameday Thread: Richmond vs Adelaide

very tough crowd on poor old Tucky.

Leysy's no great fan but 34 touches, 20 of them contested is an excellent effort in a team thrashed in every aspect. His ball use has improved of late as well.

Ridley agrees with Leysy. Tuck was our best by a mile. His kicking is average but he gets it to the others who should be able to kick. Today they could not. Tuck, Deledio, Foley, Cotchin should form the basis of a pretty good midfield in the years to come. We just need to get rid of the multitude of duds in the side and get a decent coach who doen't give uo high draft picks for skinny flankers that turn the ball over.

After 4 years of Wallace - simply not good enough. Not even competitive let alone any chance to win the game.

Shows deficiency in recruiting and highlights correct decision to sack Miller. Should also highlight that our player development and coaching are not up to scratch. I'd sack Wallace and the rest of the coaching staff today if it wasn't going to cost us so much money. Five year deal is looking like good value!! Not!!

How long do we have to wait to be competitive against the top teams or even teams in the so-called same bracket as us?

Very disappointed and disullusioned. You've got to have the inklings of a good team to be able to compete against the best. Today highlighted how far away we still are.

Time to ditch those that will never take us any further (Pattison, Jackson, King, Johnson etc) and try some more kids who may have the right skills and mindset.

Actually they could use the Federal Government money and sack the lot of them at the end of round 22.

would the public want any of these people near the Indidginous kids?

There is a lot of anger directed at the kids. Not singling you out, but perhaps it isn't the kids that are the problem, it is Wallace. Don't want to throw the babies out with the bathwater.

Agree on tuck, Richo yep had a shocker but u know what he's entitled to have a bad game here and there he has enough credits in the bank for us supporters to cut him some slack, all the champs have games like that, but agree with many a very disappointing day by the team.

Entitle to a bad game but not entitled to spit the dummy like he did on several occasions.

I certainly think Wallace isn't what we need as a coach as he's not a developer of young talent. Bringing on youth is the only real solution to this 26 year vortex we seem to be caught in. No more trades for so called established players. It just hasn't worked with Brown, Johnson, McMahon etc. However the youth path is painful - one step forward, two back.

However even with young players along the journey, you'll have some that just aren't good eneogh. Pattison and Jackson are perfect examples. Both have played at least 30+ games and I can't see either ever getting RFC to finals let alone premiership level. I'm not angry at them. I just don't think some are good enough.

I'm more angry at senior players that didn't lead by example today.

Anyone who says Tambling loked disinterested is way off base. He was trying all day and didnt give in jsut like McGuane. Tamblingamy not have made the right decisions but his effort and level of interest cannot be faulted.

Shocking effort by the Tiges today. Not very different to our last meeting except they did us in the first half this time.

At least it highlights again the physical deficiencies of our list. The skill deficiency is on show most weeks.

Tuck was again our only full sized midfielder and gave us plenty in the contests. Can't be far off the B&F this year.

I'm numb.

The Crows gave us a complete football lesson.
Our forward line structure has fallen to pieces with Richardson back at full forward. Sorry but it's true.
Those days should be over.

Today was sooooo 2007.

PS: I thought the umpiring was unbelievably in favour of the Crows but no use in complaining because it would have made Jack *smile* difference to the end result.

Hmmm they thumped us the first time we met them in Melbourne and they did it again in Adelaide. Both times they made us look like a rabble. And the difference is....?

Watching the lads fall over and run on greasy turf like ice skaters on roller skates gave me "fond" memories of that diabolical Sydney game.

Young sides get thumped. Get over it.

Oh, at the risk of sounding like a flower sniffer, if we actually expect to beat a team like Adelaide in Adelaide on a heavy track, then the team must have improved! Me personally, I thought the writing was on the wall when I saw the weather forecast. Anyway, it was an absolute shocker from the Tiges, and incredibly frustrating for us die hard supporters.

I was surprised to hear all the abuse directed at Tuck ??? he was our best. Without him we may not have troubled the scorer. And going against the grain I actually thought Jacko was good - I think he has improved - but he is still a very limited footballer. Still, at least he has the build of an AFL player. Liked Lids second half too. Thusfield and Moore were solid as well. As for the rest................................

yep we had a few youngsters 10 22 or younger on the same hand the crows had 8 22 and under. to use youth as an excuse is just that an excuse.

Doughty (29yo, 29 poss), McLeod (32yo, 28 poss), Edwards (32yo, 26 poss), Thompson (25 yo, 24 poss), Shirley (28 yo, 19 poss). You've got Johnson and Tuck. Add Goodwin, Rutten, Bock, Bassett and Massie. The core of their team has more big match experience and has the Tigers covered in class in the middle when comparing the mature bodies.

Not a lot of point in comparing the ages of some of the least influential players on the ground.

In a way it's disappointing.

But when the team took the field and I saw all the 30yos taking the major key roles up forward and around the ball, I shrugged my shoulders and was resigned to what was going to happen.

About 5m in to the game, I saw that Terry had decided to leave a Crow open on they're HB line. That turned out to be McLeod.

Yep, let's go back the old ways!

A few weeks ago we had a team fired up with hope from our youngsters.
Hughes, gone, not to return.
Schulz, dropped.
Morton, pushed up the field away from goals so Richo & Bowden can get an easy ride.

>:(

That's all right, the future of our club is with our 30yo stars.

You really are deluded. When did we actually get the ball forward? How was our ball movement? It starts with winning the ball (which we can do) and then you have the decision with what to do with it (not too good there) and then the process of getting it to where you want it to go (mmm this needs a lot of work). I don't think Bowden and Richo really had much influence on how the ball was moved and disposed of. I'm more interested in how the forwards present and their application when they don't have the ball. This was terrible, the crows had little pressure applied when clearing the ball from the backline. Hughes - you really think wet windy conditions would suit him?

By the time we got the ball into our forward line, there were 22 Crows players in our f/50. It was wet, why couldnt we adapt to getting it in long and quick? This year we've improved our forward pressure out of sight, but when you play the way we did yesterday, the Crows had a field day rebounding with all their players in our forward half, because we were too bloody slow. Nothing the forwards can do about that.

Richo is injured from what they were saying on radio before. He was barely able to walk at training yesterday they said.

Ridiculous coaching/selection decision if true.
How bad is it that all our eggs are in the basket of a 33yr old on one leg in light of Schulz/Hughes playing reserves?
Never mind the fact that Riewoldt again failed to fire in the forward 50m whilst sharing with Richo.
Our forward line looked Frawleyesque yesterday.

It makes my blood boil!!!!
