and the roos were carried for most of the year by three players. Their elite tier of players are all 30ish, and will be on the downward slope of their careers. Claw is right. At least, that was what I said to my North friends who are all going to jump aboard the tiger express when their club is eventually moved to QLD.

jeez another 80 point hiding thats 2 losses in finals of 80 odd and 100 odd points. this doesnt happen to good sides. overachievers this yr. probably middle of the road next yr or lower.
Smells a lot like our last two finals campaigns.
Scrape through on guts and determination and get seriously reamed when things get full on.

Much of it comes down to the way they are coached IMO and this is why I feel Wallace has fallen short.
Wallace needs to lift his game. He can start by being accountable for his mistakes.

What absolute drivel. The team goes badly so lets pin the donkey on the coach. You like to quote teams that have gone well this year and implied divine coaching was the answer, well lets use the example of the coaches that got the arse. Pagan, Sheedy, Daniher, Connolley (well they probably got it right with Connelly). The rest of those guys have proven that they can coach.

It's a team effort when you win, it's a team effort when you fail. To simply blame the coach is ignoring the issue. There will be many factors. The coach will be one but there will be 100 more.

Is this why we keep sacking coaches and keep under-performers on the list? March has got it right. Time for the players to be accountable. No problem with pressure on the coach, and I have no doubt there will be, but the players should not get off scott free.

A president once said to me, it's easier to sack 1 coach than 22 players.

Crowe? Daphne? Casey?

It was Leon. I think it was went the Giesh was appointed, or perhaps Spud. It was along the same lines as what Marsh just said, he was alluding to the fact that the players had let us down but the coach pays the price. His exact words may have been "it's easier to replace 1 coach than 22 players" I can't remember exactly. There was fault on all sides I think, I don't think he was saying the previous coach had done a particularly good job either but his point was it wasn't entirely the coaches fault.

imo list management and recruiting more than any other area determines how successful you are going to be. that includes coaching.

i dont rate worsfold a great game day coach but he is learning and is good in other areas. the fact woosha has the cattle depth and good list structure enables him to learn as he goes. cattle depth and list structure is covered by recruiting and list management.

imo wallace is a good game day coach but struggles in other areas.his trouble is he does not have the cattle he does not have depth and he certainly does not have good list structure. hence his performances as coach have been erratic and hence a wooden spoon for the club.
