Worst day in the tiger's history.
Documented since day 1, that TW will turn over list.
If we had kids playing as well as senior players then they'll have priority.
Future structure, Luke, Polly, Moore, in defence.
Gaspar did not want a send off, both the club and Gas need to move on.
Players need to get over last night's game.
We could of & should of won 3 or 4 games this year.
TW was dissapointed last night - did not go to the solarium this morning :hihi
We will need to go backwards to go forward.
We had to play kids earlier than expected due to the Brown & Simmo injuries.
He hope supporters understand the direction of the club.
Had seven kids played less than 10 games.
March, Wright & Match committee made the call on Ray Hall.

I think we have perspective here. The Tigers had 14 players who have played less than 50 games. Another 3 less than 100 leaving 5 players more than 100. With Simmonds and Schulz and Tambling all injured early, left our setup and run off the bench in tatters. Not condoning the insepid performance and it was ultra ultra disappointing but with that sort of inexperience you are going to get these blowouts, especially against an opposition like Geelong who were stung into action well before the game began. Alot of it is in the head and in the end the biggest issue with playing so many youngsters as many have said all along, is the detrimental effect to confidence a huge loss like this brings on young players.

We were competitive in the previous 5 matches with more experienced players on the ground. Many have asked that those players be removed for the younger players. Well this is what has started happening whether by design or otherwise, and the consequences can be what happened yesterday. Whether you believe this is the best approach is another matter but no point asking for something and then complaining about the result. If we continue to play so many youngsters int he one team, expect more of what we saw yesterday at times, and trust that it is for the long term beenfit of the club.

Were they (Simmo, Shulz and Bling) injured in the first minute? 10 goals against in the first Q is unacceptable in anyone's language isn't it?

Of course it is unacceptable. Point being as the game goes on, without a bench, most importantly the ruck, where we rely so heavily on Simmo, and the number of youngsters in the side, then results like this are going to happen.

The players need to be reminded of last nights game not just oh yeah, oh well lets just forget about it.
We were crap and they need to :police: put in and show some :police: spirit out there.

Bling went down very early in the first quarter.

Geelong blew us away in the 1st quarter.
While it is unacceptable, they were reeling from their loss to the Kangas the previous week.

What *smile* me the most, was the following three-quarters, where we never improved, never showed any fight, and didn't show anything at all.
We didn't get together at quarter-time and try and shut the game down...we continued playing like we been playing in the first quarter....and therefore, continued to get smashed.

And I am SICK AND TIRED of reading about we played so many kids, who have only played 5 games, or less than 20 games, and all this garbage.
Other clubs over the years have played kids, and fielded younger teams with less experience, than the team we fielded yesterday.....and they don't get smashed by 150+ points.
It was a disgraceful performance, and making excuses for this performance, is why we have a club churning out mediocre performance after mediocre performance, year after year.

The club needs a radical change this week....a shock to everyone.....and they should play the whole Coburg team from the weekend, and send the whole team that played Geelong yesterday to Coburg.
That's right...the whole lot of them.
Stuff reputations, and what number they were drafted, and who "looks good for 2011"....get rid of all of them....and next week.
We will probably get smashed in Adelaide this weekend as a result....but whoever performs well for Coburg, can then come back into the seniors the following week.
Let EVERYONE earn their place, treat them ALL the same....and lets see who is hungry enough and WANTS to play for Richmond, in the future.
We have to try something.

For me it was the attack on thse ball that was so bad.
As TW said the young players didnt take the oportunity.
Skills, ability and experience can vary, but endeavour should never be questioned

Totally agree with Liverpool. Effort costs nothing and there was little on show last night. Other clubs field young players too and seem to produce far better efforts (and results) than ours.

I would just like to point out that the Coburg team on the weekend was the Coburg Reserves. You would have expected a team with that many AFL listed players to dominate.

I remember at the end of 92 Sheedy loaded his team with young players and they got smashed by 160 points by Hawthorn.
I laughed so much with delight to see that smug team go down. I thought 'finally Sheedy had ran out of tricks and Essendon were deemed to be a bottom side for a few years'.
They turned it around and won the cup in 93 with much of those young players.
My respect for Sheedy went through the roof after that.

You might be sick and tired of it, but I think you'd be lucky to find many times a club has fielded 14 players with less than 50 games experience in the one side. 7 of those 20 games or less. Thats alot of players in one team with less than a year under their belt. The cull is happening.

GoodOne,

Geelong weren't that much older, to be honest....Varcoe, Selwood, Hawkins, Nathan Ablett, etc...all of them wouldn't have played many senior games either.

And remember....we lost by 157 points, to Geelong....not the Eagles in Perth, or a full Adelaide team in Adelaide....or the 2000 Bombers team.....it was GEELONG (and not even IN Geelong, but at the Dome).

While having so many kids by itself cannot be used as an excuse when you also take into effect
how ordinary our senior players are both in terms of football ability and leadership it is not a major shock that we come out
and play like this.

We will look back next year and say that this was a good result for the club. The boys will bounce back with a win and show that they are tougher than alot of people here think.

Well the fact is there were alot of youngsters in the team and not much in the way of experience. If you take my previous post about experience in number of games, Geelong had 7 players who have played less than 50 games to the Tigers 14. Even more detrimental however, is the fact that Geelong had 10 players who have played over 100 games to the Tigers 5. That unfortunately is a glaring difference, and it is alot to expect on such a young group without the nucleus of some experienced players to show the way.

I know age is not the only reason we lost but if we are to play so many youngsters, then we have to expect the chance of these sort of results. The critical thing is how much have they learnt from the experience. On hopes its given them a bit of a shock about whats required to be successful in the AFL. Its going to take time, but Im stil confident that once these players can get an extra couple of seasons under their belts that we will see a stronger, more coherent football team.

I think yesterday just highlighted as some have suggested many times, we do not have a good leadership nucleaus and need to weed out the old generation. Unfortunately it doesnt happen overnight.

The tackling and pressure was worse. It was like the geelong players had dipped themselves in a vat of oil.

The list has/is being turned over but the quality and type of players we've recruited is a worry.
Agree with ya itsy bitsy we have a chronic lack of reasonably talented hard nuts and even fewer players with smarts.
