Gas

Memory dont fail me.

I was talking to Leon Daphne about Gas one day. Gas had put a price on his head in the PSD and Melbourne could not afford him.

I asked him "How much it had cost us to stooge the Demons and pick up Gas"

He replied that Gas cost us a pretty penny in the first 12 months but played for buggar all the second.

Now was there an inquiry by the AFL too, dunno.  I reckon there was.
Still legal to nominate a price going into the draft, how the contract is structured is irrelevant as long as you don't break the cap.
Gas got a forward ended contract rather than a back ended one.

I dont care what others htink this guy has been sensational for us and deserved every dollar the club gave him.  He plays one of the toughest positions on the ground, always gives a contest nad is rarely beaten except in say the 2004 season coming off a knee reco.  He is my most respected player and I think we will not truly appreciate him until after he is gone.
Agreed 100%. Sometimes I think about where we might have been without him and Richo..... very depressing. :'( I hope these two get to enjoy lots of enjoyable Tiger victories before the fat lady beckons.

What a mature set of posts
Gas has been very good for the Tigers and its good to see that so many agree
Love your work
