Whilst Gaspar was disappointing Friday night he had a good 2006 so he deserves some reprieve. We are not exactly flushed with defenders to take over from him & Kellaway.

How long should that reprieve be do you think ?

I think you meant 2005, mb.

He gets 2 weeks reprieve as hopefully it was an aberition against the smaller, fast running Dogs.
Then try Schulz, McGuane or Thursfield. They couldn't do any worse.

Good question,I'd give him 3-4 weeks.

Re: Gas

i think the point we are all getting at is, we are not bagging him for friday nights game - we are bagging him for his last 5 years

Yes my apologies.

Re: Gas

So there was only one Richmond player out there Friday night?

Gas had a bad game, end of story, but he wasn't Robinson Crusoe. Have a look at rest of them please.

Aside from Deledio & Brown, I don't think there's a player in the side who hasn't been scrutinized Andy.

I am bagging him for that one inexcusable disgraceful effort when he didnt even bother to chase that bulldog running into an open goal when he could have at least applied a small amount of pressure.  Might not have changed the result of the goal but you never know, people do crap themselves when a little bit of pressure is applied (as Richmond has shown constantly) and it is inexcusable to just give in like that and not even bother.  Then to have the bulldog opponent that was on him getting stuck into him about it, uit jsut looked terrible nad I think is the point in the night which is the most disappointing for me, and all this coming from a Darren Gaspar fan.  Not good enough and that effort alone is worthy of being dropped to show it isnt acceptable and to set an example of a senior player.  I will not get offer that lack of effort for a long time.  An extremely fat guy would have made some semblance of an effort int hat situation let alone a fit AFL footballer.  *smile* me to tears.

Re: Gas

Okay, if we are prepared to give him another 4-5 weeks of completely dis-interested football, then be prepared for the effect that this will have on Deledio and the other youngsters who are witnessing it. On Friday night, there was a point in the game where after another half-hearted effort from Gaspar and a resulting goal, Deledio turned away and just shook his head in disbelief. Meanwhile, Gaspar did his usual trick of putting his chin on his chest, his hands on his hips and just trudged off to the man he was on who had already moved 20m back up the field to encourage the rest of his team. Great. That's what we want our youngsters exposed to.

Gaspar is not a leaders you know what and NEVER has been. I'm sick of the excuses for this bloke. Granted, we may not have too many other options at the moment, but I am prepared to go to those never the less.

again we get on the bandwagon of bagging the defence for the pathetic, inept "performance" of our midfield. You could have 10 Dustin Fletchers, 10 Silvagnis, 10 Mews etc etc & it wouldn't have mattered on Friday night due to the ease with which the pill came out of the middle. The footy was going inside out defensive 50 more often than bombs dropped into Baghdad during Operation Shock & Awe! When our defenders DID get the ball in defence & were looking to run it out, they would look up the ground & see nothing but mannequins with Richmond jumpers on planted out on the ground. Our mids & fwds were absolute BLUDGERS on Friday night & contributed heavily to our smashing. >:(

I think you miss the point.

Half our problem is that we never properly rebound from defence in the first place. So it comes back just as quickly.
Actually Phantom, that is precisely my point. We are always kicking to contests in the middle or at HF becasue our blokes up the ground refuse to do the hard work or creating space, physically imposing themselves or even put in the effort to lead more than once when needed. Of course it comes back just as quickly.

Re: Gas

Post for Mr Redford and Mr Ridley. I can feel a letter coming on !

Comedy festival is in town again soon. Apparently Darren *smile* goes out on stage with a football and thats the routine !! Its been getting great reviews in Edinburgh!

Re: Gas

bloody funny stuff. I can take people hanging *smile*, but do it with a bit of style or wit. As a comedian you are hopeless. We have much better comedians on here.

Re: Gas

I'm tipping things are a little sensitive around here at the minute. dont worry, terry said your 3 years in to a 50 year sentence.

Re: Gas

Amazing really......it takes a yr of sustained quality football to rebuild a career that was on the rocks.....and then the first game of the next season for it to be in tatters again.  Fickle......naaaahhhh.......

Re: Gas

Just to set the record straight I am stil la fan of Gaspar however I think that particular effort I highlighted was inexcusable. I still think he is an integral part of the side but that effort was terrible.

Re: Gas

Gaspar is like his mates Bowden & Kellaway, all 3 have their good points from an individual perspective but you wont win crunch games or premierships with them in your backline

Well said Tango my man well said, realism and logic always will conquer blind faith.

Re: Gas

Gas started on Morgan, then had a go at Johnson for a short while, but there was no real match up for him.
We need him this week so hopefully he will be right, I would think Gehrig or Watts if he pleases
