Hey, i left home early, rode my pushbike to the ground and arrived at 2.45. had to stand in a queue for one hour to get in. paid my 15 bucks, ran in and got a seat at the nth end and saw petts kick our first goal. five minutes later they opened all the gates and let everyone outside in for free.

what the?

Because they didn't want there to be a riot.

People start to get feral when they cannot get into the ground.

Telstra Dome wont be letting people out.

So it might all balance out in the end?

Geelong Council balls up apparently.

I got there about 12.30 an gates didnt open till 1;10 an the ticketing booths wernt open at that stage.
I sat in the doug Wade stand an I could see the que it must have been 500 metres long before the riot :hihi

It was ridiculous. Was lining up on the morrabool side of the ground, the line was a good 80mts+ long and only one person at the ticketbox, lined up for 25-30 minutes at 2pm

use your brains lefty, read it again.

I got to the ground at 1:30 and had to line up in a 50 meter long line and by the time i had got in it was 10 to 2:00, not bad. But when i got home and heard that the gates where opened for free, i was pissed off considering they awarded people for being late!

People should have been refunded!
The Place is a hole anyway!

bought my tickets online the day they went on sale.
got to the ground about 2.45 parked the car, and walked straight in,past all the lines of unhappy people.
i paid to see a game, and i got what i paid for. better than standing in long lines for ages, then getting in for nicks

The City of Greater Geelong are responsible for rostering the staf that man the gates. They say that the AFL did not advise them that Geelong members had to pay to get in, and so they underestimated the number of people who would be lining up for entry, meaning there were not enough gate staff rostered on.

Apparently, there were only two gates open and the wait to get in ended up being over an hour. Geelong footy club sent more people to man some gates, but they eventually decided to just open the gates and let those still waiting in line get in for free.

Seems that unskilled stadium is doing its level best to top Telstra Dump for the Screw the Supporters Award this year.
