General Trivia quiz

I recon it is Mauna Kea. A truly spectacular place and home to many observation towers.
 
Here's one that I found to be really interesting, well it is when you know the answer ;D

What percentage of fuel consumed by a truck actually goes towards the moving of it's cargo? - As researched by a scientific group with too much time on their hands.
(Please let me know if that doesn't make sense/ needs clarification, I didn't get much sleep last night...)

Ha ha ha... well put there Streak :) The problem is that I work with waaaay too many geeks who read scientific magazines, for fun, and then tell me all about it :help

With regards to your answer 'think wastage' a bit more. That's right, trucks are absolute shockers and yet our Govts persist in taking money away from railways to put into roads and thus forcing logistics companies to use trucks. Makes no sense to me.
 
As I can imagine what the next guess from Streak is going to be I think it is time to give someone else a go (so nyer to you Streak ;)

The answer is 11% and isn't that just a sorry state of affairs. I also read that average fuel consumption of the big trucks hasn't really improved since the 1960s.

Find a tree to sit on, have a big yawn, a big stretch of the wings and then go and find a Mercedes to wee on?
 
Better cancel that question Streaker. I got the info, and it was bats always turn left because of some kind of lunar effect, from the interesting facts on a friend's juice bottle. Should have rehearsed it first cos there are a heap of conflicting answers. Sorry folks.
