General Trivia quiz

With Pluto's recent demotion, there are now officially eight planets in the solar system. Following Neptune's discovery in 1846, how many celestial bodies were classed as planets?

jbdumbo3 should be able to get this. He's from another planet.

jb juniors' book is obviously wrong so I'll go the net.

Alright, I'll try the 8 known, 4 largest moons of Jupiter, 5 from Saturn and 4 bodies later known as asteroids.

That makes 21. Whoops too high. I'll discount the asteroids so that makes 17?

You're nearly there. A couple of hints:
- moons have always been regarded as moons
- what were the "4 bodies later known as asteroids", previously known as?

12 then but you've got me. Interesting the wiki link says that the sun and moon were once known as planets as well. (Check the "Former Classifications" table) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planets

12 is correct, 8 current ones, plus four asteroids. Apologies for the confusion, I should've phrased the question better and promise not to attempt any more science questions. :blah

Close enough - the only song not sung by Shirl. Just put a few place name songs in to catch the gullible ;D

Red actually left after Straight In A Gay Gay World album, Bob Spencer, later on a member of The Angels replaced him for Guilty Until Proven Insane and Hot for the Orient (which was sans Shirl)
