Geoff Raines II

The day mark II hits our FF on the chest from 50m is the day I'll say he looks like his old man.

How many games has Harts played? 20-25 maybe, imo he will settle into playing at the highest level in another 20 or so games & with that extra experience will come the necessary poise required to enable him to hit the targets with his kicks etc. I saw him playing at TD last year when he tore his hammy & he was hitting targets ok that night.
With more experience alot of our youngsters will come on. As has been said many time before we must try to be patient & give these guys the necessary time to develope. Some guys mature/come on quicker than others. They must be given the amount of time they need.
AS for Rainesy I saw him playing at the burgers in 2004 & liked what I saw. He will continue developing with more game time. Go you good thing :clap

He'll have to start playing in the midfield then.

The day will come when young Andrew plays in the middle, he is currently playing a good brand of football for a kid who was picked at No. 76.

We've all been crying out to bring in the kids, but what a difference 2 years makes in the development of a player. ;)

Andrew is playing his football as if he was a top 10 draftee.

Raines has been a revelation so far this year, he'd have to be up for a Rising Star nomination at some stage this season. What he's doing is what TW has told him to do, take your chances and don't be afraid. Not something our previous coach would have ever said to a player.

whats that got to do with kicking though Harry.Running Kellaway down doesn't make Hartigan a better kick.

Hartigan is a better kick.

Look at the situations and pressure both these players usually kick under.  Hartigan is usually breaking lines, running hard, attacking, creating when he is kicking the ball.  Under this type of pressure you will make a mistake or 2.  On the other hand Chubba is usually kicking the ball sideways, wide to a teamate, or after a mark where he stops, props wait 15 seconds and chips it to a loose man.  I'd much rather a player that makes a few clangers while he's trying to make things happen than a player who does nothing.

Place both players under similar pressure situations and you'll see that Harts is by far a baetter kick.  Same goes for Cogs and a few others.

I agree with Harry and others. In 20-30 games time Hartigan's kicking will improve out of sight. I think he has the fundamental kicking ability, it is just about more poise and that will come with time. We need to have patience with players like him who show a bit. It is vital IMO that we just leave him and Rainesy in the backline all year and let them run their backsides off.

robert wals was asked of who he thoght is in contention for a nomination and mentioned rainesey, good to see he is getting noticed by non richmond people

THANK YOU!!! What an intelligent comment :clap

Yes well pointed out GPB. The key is development. Not just throwing them into the ring. I think Roachy showed signs of that against the Eagles before he unfortunately had his Jaw broken.

Really like Raines' run and his poise under pressure.  Doesn't stop and prop, spin and chip.  He fires out the first handball or runs and carries ... love it!!

If my memory serves me correctly, we took AR at a younger age than usual. I think he was eligible for another season of U18's. Greg Miller said he would take longer than other boys coz of his age.  Looks like he's coming along nicely  ... he seems comfortable in the side.

I must say "the gee he likes lik his old man" is becoming quite tiresome.

We get it!!! Don't mind the publicity for Andrew but it just seems a bit over the top from some of the dunderheads calling the game. Expect more of the same this week.

Tim Lane put it best, "I don't think there has ever been a son who looks and moves more like his father in all my time then Andrew Raines".

Really going well on the ground though. Will be a steal at 76 and will go into the books as one of the success stories of Millers tenure at the RFC if he keeps going. Really great watching him get through traffic, just sways the hips changes direction and finds the gaps.
