Get Pavlich

There is more chance of Richmond doing an 06,07,08 Three-peat than there is Freo getting rid of Pav!!!  Maybe if we gave them Deledio, Tambling, Raines, Browny and a Draft pick.. :hihi

No rain on this parade, just an idea I wanted to throw out and see what the response was.

People seem to worry our development of tall forwards.

I'm sure the type of team we are building and the way footy is changing, that the importance of power forwards is not the same as it used to be.

People think about the way footy has been played in the past, and not the way it is being played now and in the future.

Look at the last 5 flag teams - Carey, Lloyd, Lynch, Brown, Tredrea, Hall.

Yep, agree, the game is changing, but nothing beats a strong tall forward, especially in the games that matter. I don't think you can get throough a whole season and win a premiership without a gun forward in top form.

As for Pavlich, Id take him if the deal was right. it would help our young guys not hinder. Aker has no respect for the footy club, wouldnt go anywhere near him.

Cheers

Freo would ask for Krak & Coughlan both from WA.

Coughlan and Krakouer for Pavlich i'd take that but there is no way known Pavlich would want to come to RFC, and there is no way Freo would let him go for mine he is there marquee player.

i dont deny pavlich is a very good player but i think he is overrated to a degree. for a 6ft 4" 100kg kp player ke doesnt do a lot of physical stuff and doesnt take a lot of contested marks i dont know maybe im just old fashioned.

For once I actually agree with you Claw. Of course Pav would have been better than Fiora, but at this point to give up basically our first 2 draft picks and one or more of our young kids is too much of a gamble on a player who at this point is yet to dominate in the CHF position.

Although, if we could get out of it keeping our draft picks and Cogs was one of the players involved, I wouldn't neccesarily be against it. I love the guy but his game against Freo for mine was very very timely.

All a pipe dream though, Terry and Greg would hve to gamble the clubs future away to get that trade up.

actually it's just a thread smokoocaster started because he was thinking as he typed.

Pavlich may be contracted and happy at freo, visa versa.

No to Pavlich (and no to Acker for that matter - too old, too disruptive, and would only be value to a club that can challenge for the flag during the next two years). Pavlich would cost too much. We can do better. True our KPP stocks are very low at the moment - Hughes was a mid-range second round pick (especially so when you add the three priority picks to the equation) and Limbach and McGuane have hardly set the world on fire. And Richardson will go soon rather than later (some people seem to think he can do a Allistair Lynch, but how many big forwards apart from Lynch have actually done a Lynch???). Create our own champions, trade in the draft for a KPP forward, make sacrifices if necessary, but no to Pavlich (our chance went we picked Fiora).

Pav would be fantastic in our side, but would cost Coughlan at least.

No thanks this group are starting to play for each other and giving up Coughlan would almost certainly upset the applecart.

But Chaffey, Gaspar, Hartigen, Knoble, Krakouer, Roach and Roden are players who are on the fringe and may perhaps along with Tivendale, be considered as trade bait. Hope we may use this group along with our draft picks to improve our draft picks, but I can't see this group getting us close to Pav.

However if Freo would take Schulz and one of the above, (not Cogs) then ?

Agree with you mate.

Aker, if taken on by us, would be in the same basket as Blumfield.
He's been a Lion too long, and isn't hungry enough anymore...already won pretty much all there is to win in the game.

At least Pavlich is still hungry.

Would be interesting, as I think he would compliment Richo.
At the moment, Pav takes the best opposition defender....same as Richo...so if both were int he same team, it should give a little freedom to one of them.

With Richo getting towards the end of his career, you'd most likely think he will be a "goalsquare forward", similar to Alistair Lynch in his final years.
That would leave Pav to roam free around the 50m-arc, which is something he can't do at Freo at the moment.

Of course...the reality of gettng him is another question...
