Why the ::) ? bjx said he? doesn't blame Terry, he doesn't blame the players, he doesn't blame the officials, but blames the supporters? Do you agree it's our fault?

I certainly don't. At the end of the day I'm confident I give heaps of support to the club and I'm not getting hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it either. :blah

We are the problem

After the reaction to our loss, I think we, the everloving supporters and members of the mighty RFC are the problem.

Do not get me wrong. I admire that we have a fanatical and loyal supporter base despite a quarter century of mediocity.

However, whenever we have a bad result we get onto this forum and on the radio talkback and criticise the players, the coaches, the recruiters, the administration and anyone else we can think of.

It is time that we stick together through thick and thin, draw a deep breath and wait to the end of the season before we begin to eat our own. Let us all be patient, support the team and coaches and others in club as passionately as if we were 3-0 and make studied and thoughtfull decisions at the end of the season.

I am not a hippy but I will not just react to things out of despair and frustration. Reaction to despair and frustration in the past has cost our club bitterly. It is time that we look at the long term view.

Re: We are the problem

Good in theory TT, and although I'm not one for ringing the talkback lines, I cant just sit back and watch us continue to be the laughing stock of the league. We need to demand better.

We are not the problem. We are not the professional footballers who cant kick, or cant run out four quarters. I'll still be supporting them, but I expect the club to continue turning this list over until we find the players who can.

I've been to the first three games, and I'll go to the other 14/15 in Melbourne aswell. I'm sticking with them, I hope/pray Terry does have a plan, but I wont just watch the same players making the same mistakes without saying something.

Re: We are the problem

We are the most loyal supporters in the league. Our game crowd averages clearly show this despite the horrible 25 years we have just been through.

Re: We are the problem

that kneejerk issue with our coaches finished with frawley. we kept him on two years longer than he deserved thus proving that our committee had the nerve to take the long term view. we signed terry to a five year year deal as he said at the time that it would take that long to be a premiership contender. as terry was involved in the football media he had plenty of oportunity to see where the rfc was at and asess what it would take to get there. he now claims that is now a seven year task.

terry are you admitting that you have stuffed up two years of our drafting in the three years you have been here?

Re: We are the problem

Dunno tt. Some people surprised me by their negativity before the first bounce in Rd 1 but although there are a few here who rarely say anything good about the Tiges I feel this week the majority of posters are only discussing the situation as they see it and trying to look for answers.

I can't subscribe to the comments by a few posters on here that the fans are to blame and I actually think most of us do stick together through thick and thin. There hasn't been much RFC success since PRE started a few years ago yet it's growing in strength , and raising a considerable amount of money and memberships for the club, each year.

I can't comment on talkback radio because I haven't heard any but I think people have every right to discuss things as they see them on here. No use sweeping thoughts under the carpet just because they aren't 100% positive. I don't think there's anything wrong with constructive criticism and I certainly don't think it equates to lack of support.

"There will be improvement this year but it might not reflect on the ladder," Wallace said yesterday. But for a run of three years from 2008 - a period the coach tags Opportunity Knocks - he believes Richmond has a chance to play off for a flag."

The Richmond supporters are part of the problem. But not through our own fault.

I actually think we suffer from Geelong syndrome.

Yesterday they clapped off Tom Hawkins during the second quarter while he was running to the bench like he was a God. Geelong supporters are so desperate to find something to hang there hat on that they lose sight of the big picture, like we do on PRE. In the grand scheme of things so far this kids league career is on par with Steven Jurica's but names like Lockett, Carey, Brown are being thrown his way. Doesn't help anyone and builds unrealistic expectations that can never be meet.

We are so willing to congratulate people for half efforts or for trying hard becuase we are so stuck in a culture of losing that we look for anything to make us feel good and justify the time, money and emotional investment we put into the club. And it perpetuates itself into things like "X tried hard" or "Y tackles are so good" or "Z is trying his best". When we really should throw the notion of honourable loses and skill deficiencies that other clubs wouldn't tolerate out the window. As long as supporters set the bar low and are happy with small victories the club will continue to dish up the substandard efforts we are seeing.
