Nice to see the third quarter against the Blues, we kicked 1 goal 8 POINTS. If we had kicked 5 goals 3 points we would have won the game.
The collective goal kicking ability of the entire playing group is questionable. Jack Riewoldt is a case in point, 40 metres out, kicked the ball out of bounds, Jack is a good lead and mark but he fails to finish it off with straight kicking for goal.
Another issue that I have is the kicking into the forward 50 so the forwards can have a crack at it. Long direct kicking, about kicking the torpedo on the run, torpedo punt to get the ball over the heads of the defending team and giving our forwards a go. To score goals means the ball has to come in hard, long and fast, that is something we continually fail to do.
As for the forwards, can anyone of them kick the ball with their opposite natural foot. I haven't seen any of them do that. Jeez as a kid playing footy, I as a forward learnt to kick off both feet and handball with both hands.
No doubt about it, whoever is going to coach this playing group in the future has a lot of work in front of them. The development of the players in terms of their ball skills is clearly showing to be lacking and its got to be an absolute priority this pre season, otherwise it will be more of the same ole same ole.
