Who knows what the selection process is regarding Gold Coast getting an Uncontracted player from each club in 2011.

Say we have 4 players out of contract at the end of 2010. Can we nominate who stays & who goes or do the Gold Coast say who they want or do both Club's work together.

This may have been mentioned elsewhere, but i'm a little confused as to what the criteria is. :headscratch

I suspect it is up to the player as to whether he wants to stay or go.

Do clubs get any compensation if they lose a player to g.c ? Be a joke if they go for free

If their out of Contract we'd get Diddly Squat from the GC!

Story in the paper today that the AFL have settled on a compensation stucture but are keeping it secret for a while.
Probably means the clubs are going to get shafted on the top shelf.

We'll be lucky to get a 2 night package at Sea World Nara resort....without Sea World entry :P

Was mentioned on radio this morning that it will be draft picks but they can be used over the following five years as long as you declare your intention to use it at the start of that season.

Not bad....clubs with good strategic thinking (Dawks, Eagles etc) will do well with this system. We'll more than likely make a mess of it.

Yup I heard the same thing Western Tiger did most likely. Was also mentioned that some fo the factors the AFL will take into account for determining compensation will be Best and Fairest results, what the player was being paid, age and not sure if they elaborated on anything else.

I like the 5 year rule but as far as the actual round pick, I would be mighty nervous waiting on the AFL to determine the draft round value of the player in all but a few obvious cases (franchise/star players etc). Lots of eggshells to be walking around in the next 18 months or so. :P

Compensation will be first choice at drafting Warwick Cappers son.

Secret compensation formula sounds extremely dodgy to me. If clubs are well run then it's unlikely they will lose anyone of genuine value, *smile* clubs may well see half their list lining up for an exit visa.
With both the G.C. and West Syd getting all the elite junior talent for three or four years on the trot there is no other option available but to save the compensation pick until the first clean draft becomes available.

who do we have out of contract then?

We better stitch up the chimp till 2020

We only have a few players that we would really be worried bout losing.Could be a blessing getting picks in return as we dont know how to use that strategy of trading
