'Good Losses' / The unethical scenario?

I don’t fully agree.

Simmo is very good and underrated AFL wide in my books because people get so attached to plus 200 cm rucks who look like Tarzan and play like Jane. So yes I worry about losing him.

But Browny and Richo are both deeply flawed footballers in some way. Brilliant at some things but cost us a lot in other ways. If I were to nominate the two best footballers right now on our team I would have Foley and Lids one and two, not any of the plus 30’s.

I am worried though, and it would be truly Richmond like to bottom out in year when the expansion club takes the cream of the crop.

Yeah now you mention it I can see it happening :nailbiting

Didn't say they were the best but when we lose them (Richo & Simmonds) particularly the hole will be big.

Richo’s lose will be huge on many levels. But my gut feel is that it might not be as hurtful to overall effectiveness of our forward line as we think.

I am far from convinced on Hughes or Polak particularly as replacements.
We are still lacking a young gun forward & Richo(and Brown to a lesser extent) is still contributing bags of goals..

We'll see. I obviously hope you are right.

Doubt we will bottom out , yes we have several important older players but so does just about every other club..
Plus we have 24 players on our list 22 or under this year plus hopefully 6-8 young players from this years drafts..
Even allowing for the fact that a number of those players won't make it i would be staggered if when our oldies
reitre we are not at least moderately stronger..

It is just a gut feel, but it partially based on some stats I saw a little while ago that indicated that over Richo’s career we have actually kicked more goals on average in games where he hasn’t played.

With the G.Coast & W.Sydney priority picks to come in - this could be the last year that a established club will be able to get early picks without trading away the top players to the 2 new teams for their early picks.....

Richmond is in desperate need for a quality young ruck & as it happens Natanui will most likely go #1..... Would be a huge boast to our depth + we would get another early pick - maybe even a key forward.... But to secure the priority pick we have to have less than 16.5 points for the year - so can only have 1 more win (plus another draw) to qualify & that's highly unlikely....

Considering we have Geelong, Essendon, Sydney (in Sydney) & Adelaide in the next 4 rounds - at this stage Essendon would be the only game we would be favourite in......
I think we should go out to win all the games, but if we happenned to lose those games & were still 2 wins and a draw @ the end of round 11, with no chance of finals, then I would be quite happy for Wallace to put the cue in the rack..... He would need the support of the board re: his contract to do so....

Anyway at this stage we should be trying our best to win every game ....
The performaces of the older players such as Richo, Brown, Simonds & Johnson has been quite telling in our improved efforts so far...

At the end of the day there is no such thing as a good loss. They're all as ugly and painful as hell! You can look back at the last few weeks and see what could have been and say that we are on the improve, and that is about it. Hopefully the powers that be at RFC see where we need to build and where to concentrate on, and don't look at anything else but improving our game and winning the next one. Suggesting anything else discredits the club and the game.

If we finish last or 2nd last in Wallace's 4th year, draft picks or not, it goes without saying it will put enormous pressure on our club's entire club administration. I don't think they will let that happen.

At this stage of the season I want to win,If that doesn't happen & late in the season a loss could mean a priority pick then I'd rather lose.

yep. when we can't make the finals then we really need to get Rance Gourdis and Putt in the spine
