Got home from another hard days Yakka ;D last night switched on the TV and the footy channel and to my sheer delight they were showing the Rich vs Carl match of 97 when under the "caretaker" coach of unleash the Giech we put the blues out of the finals race.
Only saw the last 10 mins of the match but it sure brought back memories of being amongst the Rich faithful in the outer after the siren when it seemed like we won a flag :hihi :hihi :hihi

I was at that game, and whilst pleased that we won, left the ground thinking how sad it was that for 17 years we’d been a club that had to be content with beating sides that didn’t make the 8 themselves or sides we prevented from making the 8, rather than us beating sides to actually make the 8.

8 years on, and little has changed.

Ahhh the Geisch. What a mastermind he was.A misunderstood genius.

I remember being there too and left elated but worried that Gieschen had just signed himself a contract with one strategic move - moving the 3/4 time huddle closer to the RFC fans.  Always had this sinking feeling he was a nice bloke but more speech than substance.  I don't get many right, but my ample gut's instinct knew there was something awry with that appointment.

Dont think there has ever been too many days to rival that one for tiger fans at Princess Park geeez i hated that place.

I was there standing with the beer boys under that 'modern' scoreboard and what a shame for the Bluebuggers that a former player had to kick the winning goal. :rofl :rofl :rofl

I remember a game at night in 1988 when we downed the then reigning premiers, the Blues!!

That was a special game. We had a team of kids - they challenged us late before Chris Pym slotted a few to finish them off.

Ahh the Geisch. Has gone on to bigger and better things as coach of the umpires. They have improved out of site under his tutelage ::) ;D

Now that was a great game. Lost my voice for 2 days after that. The Peter Wilson cartwheel/handstand game wasn't it?

I remember in 1997 we sacked Walls with 5 games to go, won 4 out of last 5 and missed finals by 2pts.
It was also the week Justin Charles was caught or suspended as Blues supporters were giving us heaps.
We were behind by about 6 goals in 2nd quarter too and beat them and denied them a spot in the 8 and that was our last ever game at the dump. Cant believe we had to play some of our home games there and things still have not changed with us now playing home games at Telstra Dump.
