You disappoint me Claw. Have you seen Graham play? He seriously struggles to make contact with ball when kicking. He is just no good at all. Makes Patto look like Polly Farmer :o
i know where your coming from but i dunno call it a gut feel. common sense says delist but sometimes theres just something you cant put a finger on. hes 21 coming from the rookie list hes had injury imo 1 more yr on mimimal wage wont hurt.

No good being big if you can't play. Maybe he should try basketball.

Yeah I'm with Claw, something about Gus defies the norm.

Saw him play many games over the past 18 months and there are signs to suggest he'll be an exception to some rules and come out pretty good.

Cartman - the only thing he's got going for him is a nice smile and I mean that in more ways than one.

Good thread to give a bump since we have had a chance to look at Cartledge in seniors for a couple of weeks now.

Some interesting views/reading as well.

We've got to keep them both. Ask West Coast supporters how good Cox was until he was about 24. How long did North persevere with McIntosh and Hale before they became decent? We have 5 ruckmen of which one is old and the others are 23 and under. Keep them on the list until they are 24-25 at least. If nothing else we should be able to get a decent trade for them as ruckmen are a much sought after commodity, especially experienced ones. Most clubs aren't patient enough to leave ruckmen on their list to develop properly but those that do usually benefit in the long term. I would much rather us have to choose which of our ruckmen we need to trade instead of worrying about who to trade for.

I still say that the new over age rules for the rookie draft should be renamed the experienced ruckman's rule. Every year we should be scouring the VFL, WAFL and SANFL for a 23-25 year ruckman that is a big bodied, tall bloke that isn't afraid of contact. Cartledge was by far and away my favourite pick from the rookie draft as he is the right age and has proven himself at the level below AFL.
