Grand Final Thread

Why are you trying to pick fights with fellow Tiger supporters over nothing?

Picking fights?

It's a difference of opinion. Geez.

It just frustrates me no end that mediocrity has set foot and spread like a cancer throughout our supporters.

Accepting a win in a Home and Away Game and carrying on like that holds weight to being successful.

No-one is carrying on except for you. Someone makes an innocuous comment and you carry on like............... I dunno, a pork chop.

And another thing if you can't enjoy wins when they happen well you may as give it away.

WOW.

I'll stop now. All I am doing is stating reasons on why a meaningless game should not count in any argument, especially when we are talking about the Premiers.

Carrying on. :help

Pull your head in mate. ::)

Don't worry about it mate.

The thing about some posters on this site is they don't like reality. They take it as negativity towards our club.

When you state facts that show how badly our club is run, the same bunch of fork wielding yokels come out breathing fire thinking that I am out to damage the club.

Only a selected few on this site are worth debating with.

How was your day anyway mate?

And if geelong kicked straight today.Pftttttttttttt the Hawks are not a 15 goal better side than us

ur so right, was it that hard to see that Geelong actually dominated this game, had all the play, they lost simply because the goals werent kicked when it was needed....When the hawks went forward there effiency was spot on thats what won them the game, they didnt out play geelong..
But at the end of the day the cats shot themselves in the foot by bad kicking at the big sticks...
Sheez are some people so blind not to see that, cats had something like 9 more scoring shots...

How soft is Travis Varcoe...I heard a couple posters mentioning as a possible trade for Richmond. Thanks but NO THANKS!

How Geelong supporters must wish that JON had slipped through to their pick. Classes better than Varcoe.

On the result, the Dawks took outstanding form into the game, their ball use over the past month has been historic. Brilliant. Disciplined. Ferocious. Albeit light. Tactically superior. A force to be reckoned with. And deserving premiers.

On Geelong, Stan Alves had a pretty bad game in 1997. But nothing to the Geelong bench today. There was a real risk that Bomber would go into the game ignoring Hawthorn's form and tactics. With a "we'll play our own game" approach. Nuffer.

Geelong had no real plan A and their plan B was worse than panic - it was spectate. Football axiom #2185 - there is no such thing as a complacent team, only a complacent coach. That bludging, terrified forward line was all Thompson's fault.

How bout this one? With 49 I50s to 3/4 time Bomber assembles his forwards at the huddle. Maybe thinking that there might be a problem there? I dunno. Seems a real conundrum doesn't it? They're the same group of forwards who have already lost the game for Geelong. And still he makes no moves (let's ignore the Milburn cameo).

I reckon Bomber took a call from Adrian Anderson at 3/4 time - "Well Bomber, time to close the stable door mate. The horse is 5kms away." Bomber - "Too late, eh? Well, bugger it. I've got the best seat in the house. I'm not getting up."

Well TB, reality was that we beat the dawks by 5 goals late in the season, regardless whether u think it was meaningless or not..
We match up well on the hawks, earlier on in the season 5 mins to go, scores were level and the hawks got the bikkies in the end...
So in 2 games we have faired quite well against this years premiers, thats the point im making here and thats fact...

It was good mate.

Just watched a good honest contest!

Geelong choked. When things started stuffing up for them, more pressure was applied and they reverted to selfish footy.  They took greedy options that rarely took all season, the Ottens shot on goal typified this. It's also clear their arrogance got the better of them, the way they played they just came out assuming they were going to win. You can't do that on GF day.

I don't like the Hawks but they got the job done, they played as a team and capitalised on the other team's errors. I will still consider them a default premier like Adelaide in 97/98. The Hawks won because Geelong stuffed up basically, but a wins a win and you take them anyway you can.

As for the Tiges vs Hawks gamer earlier this year, go watch the replay, we actually applied some really tight pressure and ran the lines well. Geelong would be wishing they played like we did on that today.

What a pack of idiots at Geelong............dynasty ??..........pffft and pfffft !!!

What time did they wake up this morning?

Couldn't kick straight when it mattered most in a Grand Final FFS!!

Thank god we lost that overpaid and overrated loafer with no. 6 on his back.

I wonder how we would match up in a grand final though. That's when it counts and I doubt we could take the bumps the Hawks players did and I doubt we could dish it out as hard as they did. They are a genuinely tough team and it's something we should aspire to imo.

Ask a Hawthorn supporter, player or administrator tonight how meaningful they feel it is. I am sure it will be haunting them to the early hours of this morning as they attempt to celebrate their victory. One home and away match they dominated but where they almost kicked themselves out of it, another late season match when they were flat and did not come to play (having already firmly establish their place in the finals). Don't kid yourself, if Richmond had played Hawthorn it would have been a massacre.

Well said.

I fully cred the rumours that Stuart Dew went off just after 3/4 time for a beer transfusion. But here's the scandal. Apparently one of the Geelong players leaked that they get a six pack at 1/4 time (and Scarlo gets a slab) and now he wants a trade.

And Thompson threated no beer at half time if the Cats weren't in front. Phew.

Stuie Dew earned his keep when he was released from the backline. A cameo performance when the game was still in the balance. They'll have to give him his own keg tonight.

Well thats the big question rosy, you really dont know until that day arrives, there is a lot of doubt in your words, i doubt this and doubt that, well no doubting the tiges had the second most hard ball gets in the league, so id say we would be more than capable to cope with there hardness...
Your speculating on what you think could/would happen we can all do that and i say time will tell and until thatt day arrives your welcome to speculate all you like...

another speculating, who the *smile* knows what would happen if we were there, most thought the cats would win today but they were upstaged by a hungry hawks team, ok the cats missed many many goals and could've been different had they kicked straight but they didnt so bad luck cats and hawks did the job when it was needed...
