Grand Final Thread

Not sure about historics, but surely that is a record for how many rushed behinds the Hawks gave the Cats.

I think the Hawks learned something from us, rush behinds, take control at kick outs and keep control of the ball.

They did it with aplomb yesterday.

Another ridiculous and embarassing contribution to the style of play started by our own Joel Bowden. From side ways football, to high worthless back half non contested possessions, to maxmimised rushed behinds, what else will come from RFC's strategy geniuses to make the game even less of a spectacle ?

None of this style of play needs to be applauded.

Was it the illustrious Hayfever who said our list develoment was ahead of Hawthorn's ?

Heh heh heh heh.....

And did Hayfever call Hodge a "choker on the big stage"? Hmmmm......

I didn't realise Joel was the first to start this.

If it helps win a GF who cares. I'd just love us to get there to do it.

I am not happy that they won Rosy - apart from Cartoon - I hate the Hawks the second most. They have a few in that team that have questions over them about their off field pleasures and I still have the article to prove it. Until they are all gone I will not respect that team nor their success. They were lucky today - faced a team down on the day. The best team of the year did not win today. Sour grapes - you bet >:D
If you think Richmond are devoid of players who've dabbled in off field pleasures, you're kidding yourself. I've seen it first hand.
So don't be so righteous.

and yes, sour sour sour grapes on your behalf.

Firstly, what the heck are you doing on an internet forum, your team just won the biggest honor in football and your on an opposition forum? Geez mate, living life aren't you? :o

Secondly yes we have a couple of bad boys, like every club in the competition, but hardly in the same hemisphere as Hawthorn, but who really cares when you win a premiership.

Lastly, A lot of people on this forum can't give credit where credit is due, get used to it, thats life, I give a lot of credit to The Hawthorn Football Club.

Well done, now get the hell of a forum and get celebrating moron! ;D

2 votes in the Brownlow medal, I think he'd prefer the ones around his neck yesterday.

BTW I was super impressed with young Rioli's game yesterday. Fantastic for a first year kid to do so well in a GF.
Everything he touched turned to gold yesterday in the first half particularly.
He's been an excellent addition to that Hawk forward line.

did anyone else notice varcoe's lack of intensity for the loose ball . in paticular when he was running for a loose ball he just loped until he realised his opponent was beating him then he put in.

i thought he was supposed to have speed to burn.

yep - sour grapes indeed - in my eyes, the best team of 2008 failed to win on the day. I really do not care to hear your tit for tat Dork fan - I have a right to question if those players were clean yesterday - and that isn't sour grapes - that is a based on fact.

Well like i said yesterday, the cats dominated but not where it counts, on the scoreboard....62 inside 50's to 43 and 9 more scoring shots tells it like it is but when u kick 23 points to 7 well enough said...After Qtr time, the cats kicked 6 goals & 20 behinds and the hawks 13G and 5 behinds...

Bottom line hawks took their chances with their limited entries in their fwd 50 and cats didnt...End of story!

Especially the failed elbow Croad tried to apply before he limped off. Yeah that was nice and clean stuff. The tribunal should be looking at attempted near misses, not just the ones that land.

Agreed y&b, I thought that he was supposed to be speedy but I was VERY disappointed in his efforts. I commented to one of my mates on exactly the same thing.
If I was a cats supporter I would have been really dirty on him being in the team before Wojinsky {sp}.

We tossed up between Varcoe & JON at pick 8 !!! Not sure yet who was the winner in that draft ???

Varcoe has had injury doubts over him all week, no surprises that he couldn't really do what was required. He is still streets ahead of JON though.

If thats true then thats a joke....cant take players into Grand Finals under injury clouds....especially mediocre ones like Varcoe. If it was Ablett you would consider it....even then 22 fit players on GF day is an absolute must.

didnt bomber say that under no circumstances would they take an unfit player into the grand final.otherwise that would be depriving wosjinski of a deserved place in the team..

got to say skip, several times i saw varcoe pull out or not hit the packs hard enough and i just said to myself, you soft *smile*...it was so obvious he didnt want hard contact and hesitated around packs, basically pulled out before contact..
Look he's more skilful than JON but i tell ya JON has more heart than that softie by miles...

Croad was fit?
Hodge was fit?
Brown was fit?
Two made it through, one didn't. All coaches and players take a punt during finals, get it wrong and you look a fool. If it works no one notices and you're a genius.

Varcoe dodgy calf was insipid.
Stokes dodgy groins unsighted.
Chapman dodgy hammy's rarely imposed himself.

Well done to Hawthorn.......I hope this puts to bed the rediculous statements that Geelongs team can be compared to the Mighty Brissy Side

Which makes me happy as you know mate ;)

No team for me can compete with that side, champions on every line, and more importantly leaders on every line, always played for eachother and went far and beyond when the business season approached.

You would never meet a more professional bunch of blokes that gave all their dedication to winning every year. No party boys, no ego's (aker even walked the line for the 3 years) and just the best experience of how football should be played.
