Fair dinkum.

I went to the RFC website to look up player stats, and there were Duncan Kellaway and Paul Hudson: no kicks, no handpasses etc. But still on the list.

Obviously their poor form is the reason we're not winning.

When are the greedy clowns running the website going to get the **** and the club take responsibility for putting pu a decent site?

And how long do we have to wait until the team is announced FIRST to the supporters on the website, rather than through the media? It still isn't up, even though we've been told Edwards and King are playing (Yay!)

I'm impressed by most things the new administration have done, but I am seriously angry about the crappy website.

So is the club legally prevented from putting up a decent website of its own, separately?

Is the club prevented from encouraging a group of supporters to run a supporter website?

How restrictive is this stupid, ignorant, arrogant, contemptuous, nasty, destructive deal? And for how long?

We used to be sent the teams at 3pm so it seems that them not being published isn't because they aren't ready.  If the club are waiting for someone to upload the team list to the club site I wonder what prevents them including the team in the Jungle Beat e-mail that comes out Thursday arvo.  As it is now it just directs you to the RFC site with a message the team will be up after 5pm.

Anyway your heading is a tease Griff....I'd love Dunc to still be at Tigerland.

Funny that those two are the ones left on there as they were pretty much the complete opposite of each other:
One had great skills, one had none.
One had great courage, one slept with a light on.
One was a forward, one a backman.
One came through the grades as a young man, one arrived with us as a hasbeen.
One played in lots of finals, one barely got a sniff.

Essendon has made some sort of breakaway from the AFL deal. There's

http://bombersfc.com.au/

which is the cloned AFL version, and

http://www.essendonfc.com.au/

which is billed as "The Official Website of the Essendon Football Club".

I'd love to know the answer to Griff's questions. Just had a look at the Bombers website which is great. Our's doesn't even have the selected team!

Nope Essendon had their site running before any deal was made by the AFL with Telstra! All the other clubs are stuck with this lousy deal.

This is shocking how long is this going to continue, they must have an IT guy who takes care of all the updates, :-\

If i remember right, the Bombers decided to go alone, and refused to sign that part of the multimedia deal that happened, whereas all the other clubs did sign.

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that's how it went down? ???

I think these are both right.

Telstra is paying the AFL $60 million from 2007-2011 for the right to provide internet and mobile phone coverage of football. From what I can gather, Essendon is foregoing at least some of its slice of the pie by not signing the deal - don't know if we're in good enough shape financially to do the same.

I very rarely visit the AFL or RFC official sites anymore because they're tragic. I genuinely feel quite sad about the way the AFL is evolving under the current regime, everything is skewed to the $ and the AFL cannot even be bothered with the pretense of being in touch with the supporters any more. They've built an ivory tower out of the corporate $, the tv rights are a fiasco and I fear that its only going to get worse.

Sorry Rosy, the club should apply for intervention orders that they will
be charged by the police if they come within 1 kilometre of Punt Rd!!

They can model it on the same one you have with the club diggs.

don't want to sound like a fat head but i was attempting to swing a deal with the AFL a few years back and met with their Internet marketing man Ian Weeding. He loved the concept i had, but then said "we have one problem - we don't own the websites, Telstra does" and then filled me in on the history.

He suggested i meet with Telstra who wanted the architecture before meeting with me. I wasn't prepared to give it to them before meeting so the idea died right there and then.
