According to Rosy's chat with Gary March we are expanding our coaching department.
We were last year too and look what happened... nothing
A lot of the big candidates for Assistant Coaching roles have already been signed up by clubs willing to chase hard, yet we just stand by and watch them go elsewhere

i saw statistics pubished during the year in the Age from memory. Richmond were in the bottom 3 or 4 clubs in player payments.

I think what he means is that Richmond is right up to the limit on its budgeted salaries - not salary cap.

We were? We were going to replace Andy Collins that is all. We didn't because we offered it to Mick McGuane but he didn't accept and we couldn't find someone else.

How do you know what we're doing behind the scenes?

The variation in the quality of journalism in The Australian is remarkable.

I wonder whether the generous air-time that KB gives Denham and Smith has gone to their heads. They seem to make stuff up, and then become genuinely convinced that what they say is the truth.

I don't mind Denham, we are all just a bit sensitive too criticism. Hard to dispute his assessment of Meyer who for a number 12 pick in all reality has been a huge disappointment. Denham just has a habit of pulling out ridiculous statements out of nowhere. My favourite was from last year that when it was suggested that Dale Thomas was going to miss for the Pies, Denham said his absence would make the Pies an 8 goal worse team. KB then pointed out that Thomas had never kicked more than 4 goals in a game. Denham then said well maybe 6 goals worse off then.

The Meyer part was a minor point of that interview. The comments that were ridiculous were the ones about us being near the top of the salary cap and reducing our coaching staff, comments which were obviously based on uninformed media speculation which was proved false over a week ago.
