That seems incredible to me.
Lappin's either stupid, bitter or has a greedy manager(most likely). That seems way over the odds to me. Surely Sheehan's just pulled those numbers out of his &*%#.
If true, and Joseph is responsible. Lappin should sack him in a heartbeat and every other player dealing with Ron the Con should have a good hard look at him.
I actually feel sorry for Lappin. As its been stated he had taken a paycut for the good of the Football club previously and now they expect him to either stay on that level of payment until he retire.s.This surely reeks on behalf of Lappin and quite understandable that he and Joseph would be peeved.
Take your sentimental hat off Skipper.Lappin had the chance to grab the cash with Richmond which he chose not to.He & Joseph are crazy if they thought 3 year deals were readily available at his age.Joseph has cost Lappin big time & should dismiss him in view of his terrible advice.

Interesting that in a club widely acknowledged to have been overpaying their players for years, that the fact that for one year a player had to take a pay cut is used as justification for future overpayments.

I suppose it is understandable that the memories of all of those years where Lappin (and many others) were paid way over the mark have slipped away........

Sooner or later most clubs have to face reality on these issues, it is only a matter of who finally has the guts to take a stand (and when).

That Lappin's form dropped off a bit over the course of the year (as I recall from his Dreamteam scores and value - very scientific I know :P) is probably the only thing to feel sorry for Lappin about - but then again, that was within his control from what i could tell.  Agree with the latest sentiment - he should have grabbed that early offer with both hands at 29.  Sounds like they (Lappin and Joseph) took a risk in rejecting the earlier offer and Lappin couldn't prove his worth after that.  Who's sorry now?

Got it in one ToO. Joseph is all about bleeding anyone and everyone regardless of consequences. He has done it time and time again, and mostly got away with it in the old days, but in these times of tighter fiscal controls he may just bite the hand that feeds him once too often.

Lappin has been one of Cartoons better players over the last few years and if he took a pay shortage in recent times would be entitled to 850 over two years ( if the numbers are near accurate ). At his age I have no idea why the bloke would knock this amount back and insist on a three year deal ( unless another club dangled him a big carrot ).
Wouldn't say no to Lappin playing for us for a couple of years as either a running back or extra option forward as he is a handy player but not as a new player for the dollars he is after.
Looks to me like he will just have to eat crow and cop what the blues are offering.

The Herald Sun reported last week that Lappin in June rejected a two-year deal that would have earned him $850,000.

The new deal is is believed to be at least $200,000 less.

Ouch!

Wonder if Ronny boy is gonna make up the difference. :cutelaugh

In a way he will, if Lappin gets less, then his cut will also be less. After what this parasiste did to the RFC over Gaspar I can't say I'm disappointed.
