Not sure exactly what Johnston was taking but Mk said pain killers if thats so, how can caro compare that to ice and coke...it is a bit harsh.

Agreed!! It's not that different to addiction to alcohol, and i bet theres more that a few ex players withe alcohol problems, weather they'd like to amit it or not.

And what if he has beaten his addiction?? should he still be scratched from the "Carro approved" employment list?? i really wish journolists would think before they write something, and maybe we'd take more notice of wha they said

in part she said:

"All clubs have players who take drugs. Just as some clubs have a problem with the insidious disease of alcoholism, some clubs have a drug problem with the potential to reach the crisis point that the reigning premier has.

Some clubs still don't get it. No one is suggesting Richmond has an illegal drug problem but it baffles me how it continues to employ a former player in Wayne Johnston — with an admitted history of drug addiction — as its runner.

The Tigers reportedly have Johnston there under certain restrictions, but that is a compromise, however inspirational he may be."

Its a tense thing, probably too much for Caroline. Big difference between drug history and drug presence.

Caro is by far the most bizzare collumnist in all of the country. She makes these calls from left field and leaves blank holes everywhere. I'm sure Wayne is over his addiction and if he is, we are doing the right thing by giving him a "hobby" or interest.

She has to get the drug issue in Victoria, a long plane flight for a good story will ruin her face even more. Lets keep it local hey Caro!

I have to say that someone who hasnt played at the topflight can not regard there opinion on par or even more superior than some one who has played the game at the highest level. Anyone that listens to these critics are just as bad, they will use an off-field issue and blow it up as it doesnt have any "technical" footy aspect to it.

Harsh, the very worst commentators tend to be ex-players who get away with their drivel because they were great players for popular clubs.

But picking on WH was a cheapshot, but at least its better than trying to pass off a players mum being upset with the club because her son plays too much playstation as a news story.

I'm surprised she gave him a whack.
No doubt because she is seen to be pro Richmond she didn't want to be seen just picking on other sides.

The article was excellent without that and it was unnecessary of her.

I'd suggest she'd stop writing articles that are too deep for her own big mouth to chew. If she sticks on this topic, articles will be written about her.

Kurtz the ex-players do get away with it, but in the end, they know what the important issues are. I know Malcom Blight is up there with the finest.

Picking on Wayne was a cheap shot and its not good for anyone. I'd expect someone to take legal action. Dwelling on someones unfortunate past is a very low shot. I'm pretty pist as a supporter, I cant help to think how the powers to be down at the club swolled this so early in the morning.

i agree. poor form by Caro.

So much for Caro thinking that people deserve a 2nd chance. The bloke is obviously rehabilitated. I'm sure Caro won't be on the Dominator's Christmas list!

Why did Carro suddenly decide to attack WH when his past has been known for a while? Last year the Age wrote a puff piece about him, now having done nothing more wrong (as far as I know) he is supposedly bringing the club down. Everybody disserves a second chance, even a ex-Blue.

She finds it hard to let go. She is very bitter I think and is still striving to be taken seriously. Thus, she tends to write stories with a non-game focus, giving the impression that she is an insider, in the know. This image puffs up her fragile ego.
