Greg Miller ON sport 927 this moring

Let's not get too excited about the Polo's, Meyer's, Pattison's and Tamblings of this world. They should predominately be playing reserves next year. It's players like Roach, Raines, Hartigan, Jackson, Hyde, Schulz, Rodan, and Moore that we need to really step up and give us the next level of improvement. The microscope should be placed on these players.

Make or brake year for alot of those lads around the 3rd/4th year in the system.

I can see the likes of Roach, Raines, Jackson, Moore and co. getting the ass after this year if they don't show Wallace a fair bit.

Massive call on Polo to be able to spell Cogs. Be gold if true.  Can never have enough players going through the midfield.

I've met Polo, and he seems to be a nice, intelligent bloke.  I dont for one minute think he wouldn't be able to spell COGS.

Balmy, that is pure gold brother.

Yes, word has it that Polo is studying for a Power Generation engineering degree just in case he needs to go back to Gippsland and keep the wheels of industry arolling.

On the money.
If Hartigan, Hyde and Shulz don't show any improvemnts next year, then i don't think we'll be seeing those 3 again in the yellow and black.

Ya right about the axe weilder's Tango, they're all entilted to their own opinion.  But let me say this, yes he did struggle in the VFL reserves, and maybe he did have issues, but the kid made a remarkable turnaround for Coburg and whipped the opposition in the run home of the season, with a few best on grounds in which he got leather poisoning, and oh.....one more thing, I do recall Cogs being at the crossroads, but Spud got into his ear, and the rest is history. ;)

Don't worry GPB. I remember a few people saying a couple of years back that "Cogs looked like a possum caught in the spotlight" and wasn't up to it.

The thing with Polo is that his improvement last year shows that he has character and obviously a good work ethic. This is what we want at Punt Road as these sorts of characters inevitably make it.

I think these are the youngsters guys are all candidates for the axe should they not take another step this season with the primary reason being expiration of contracts so no surprise with that in mind.

Foley and Moore - one year to do somthing and i favour Foley doing more than Kel.

Schulz - must - must do something this year and must get the right attitude to back up his natural ability cos he has plenty of it and can play and its time for Jay to show what he can do.

Roach - I think he is closer to gone than staying unless he steps up big time. Had no idea, no confidence and no spark compared to 04. For mine lucky to be a tiger in 06. But good luck to him. Was next to go behind Arch and Gilmore i reckon. Name may have saved him but he does have that blistering pace.

Raines - Looks better suited than Roach at minny but also must step up, maybe as a tagger to learn how to get the footy cos he can use it.

Polo - Contract expires pure and simple so he must step up another cog to a degree to get re signed which is nothing foreign to all youngsters after their second year. Showed improvement and increased confidence in last 6 weeks of 05.

Limbach - Really really struggled with the whole AFL scene last year and like Archibald could easily be flicked if he doesnt step up. Has one year to earn another one year deal for 07 at the least.

McGuane has big raps but is a definate Archibald club member. Spent the whole year virtually injured as did Archie so Luke has 06 to impress enough to gain another contract. Have a gut feeling he will though. Luke just has somthing bout him and i reckon he could be a future prospect but 06 will tell us more about young Luke.

I think it is safe to say that out of this list of 8 at least 2 possibly 3 will go at years end to open up for the super draft and my early gut feeling before these guys have had 22 weeks to raise their stocks is that Roach and Moore will both be gone at years end whilst the others have a little more slack on their ropes but not much more.

Ideally a majority or at least 3 or 4 of Stafford, Hall, Hyde, Pettifer, Chaffey and Tivendale will join those who say sayonara in October 06. But we will cross that bridge when we get there or possibly around round 16 - 18 as always. :hihi :hihi :hihi :hihi
