Greg Miller soon on SEN

Sure he has a few issues to sort out, but he has shown he is prepared to try to work thru them and as you say Claw he has talent and is still young, while we haven't an actual need for his type, we could possibly get him as a bargain pick
what genuine small crumbing forward do we have at richmond. yes he has issues at 64 hes worth the risk. i really believe melbourne will take him with 52. other clubs may step in around that pick as well.

do you think clubs will risk picking up a "troubled" player though?

With failures ranging from Zantuck to Farmer, clubs have been burnt by players with poor off-field form. Where once there was a belief that a second chance will bring em around, I am not sure clubs are as willing to take the risk these days, especially with some draft picks worth so much.

On Sampi, I agree may be worth a punt, but you would want to be confident he can get his sh1t together before you give up on giving a kid a chance.

Interesting list, thanks for putting it together, you can probably give anyone 05 or later the benefit of the doubt and exclude them from the sample unless they have been desisted already. Father/son don't count either.

So you are roughly left with-

2004 wells rusling van berlo hartlett garner little GIBSON rosa lee moore prismall ackland ezard.
2003 thurley moody jones miller mcconnell campbell NASH schmidt krueger symes shaw adcock peel.
2002 ferguson lonergan johnson urch rivers walsh CARTLEDGE shackelton perry jericho murphy dempster.
2001 seaby gardiner johnson armstrong rogers davidson POWELL roberts-thompson crowe reynolds brown rodan okeefe.
2000 hadley petrie coughlan birss richards GREENE charman rocca campbell hunt pike lonie

So from this list who would you rate as a good ordinary 100 game player? (e.g. seaby) And who would you put in gun category? (e.g. o'keefe, Cogs)
okay you want me to put my balls on the table.i will base it both on junior and and what they have done so far. remember i only see these guys onnce or twice a year once they have been drafted to opposition sides i tend not to look to closely at them anymore.

2004 to start with i really liked chad gibson as a junior i wanted us to draft him he lasted what 1 yr on adelaides list. shows ya what i know.
jarrad moore solid midfielder i like big bodies has had injury. rusling vanberlo look like 100 plus game players. carlton hartlett i really liked hes 196 had some injury but isa good one.rosa prismal if he can break into geelongs team.

2003 mat moodyalways had a soft spot was at kelmscott while i was involved with juniors there.adam campbell will be a real good kpp chad jones will play afl for wce regularly will have to improve his kicking.have always like jay nash again that big body.schmidt at sydneyhes taken awhile but i think will play 100. symes from port i really like. and adcock

2002 ferguson stkilda variety rivers will play 100 daniel merret joel perry jericho may play 100. sean dempster how sydney traded him to the saints for nothing is beyond me.

2001 seaby steve johnson gardiner roberts - thompson campbell brown.

2000 petrie luke ablett coughlan birss richards charman would all be close to 100 games or more hadley would be to bar injury. senior players taken this draft pike rocca have proved to be good choices.

i havent rated guns in fact a lot of those mentioned i would not have picked but it does show there is plenty of potential 100 game players to be had around this pick. now going back to what started this was pick 28 worth taking for schulz i would have thought so. the risk we now run is schulz continues in the same vein and lets face it its on the cards and at the end of next yr we get nothing for him. sometimes you just have to cut your losses and run.

64 is going to be used on a bloke who cant play in the psd. i know which one i would use the pick on.if we were to use pick 64 on a putt or renton if they last that long i would be rapt atm we have not given ourselves that option.

Agreed or if they're gone possibly Wilkes or another of the many seemingly decent talls that got delisted this year.

Well you are being a bit hard on yourself, drafting in a inexact science even for the full timers who are wrong about a lot of prospects taken after the 1st round. What I was trying to do is set up the success rate of pick 28 with hindsight and see how that ranks next to keeping Sarge. Not because I know the answer but because I'm genuinely interested. But I'm too pissed to do the sums tonight.

and then I remembered this has been done before

Upgrade from 18 to 16? I hardly see the point. If you were keen on the trade without the upgrade then canning it because of 2 slots is a joke IMO.
At the Draft Night gM said they just wanted to get in front of Geelong (? for Bellchambers?)

Maybe for Selwood??

or didn't want the risk of them picking Guy before us (wouldn't be good for Gregory's heart) ;D

They took Djerkurra just before us last year (very happy with Edwards BTW), and it looks like it'll happen again

Reckon they may go with a ruckman early this year...maybe a Bellchambers.

It sounds like Bellchambers is like Blake (good tap ruck but sh!te around the ground)
They would be wanting McEvoy to slip but if not then could go Bellchambers (personally I think 1st round is too much for him)
But in the words of the host of Bargain Hunt 'What would I know'

Agree - if McEvoy falls that far, Cats will go him. If not, they may feel they have the capacity to spend a little more than market value to pick a ruckman to develop in the 2s as support for Ottens/Blake.
