Hi there.

Can anyone clarify for me the numbers Stafford wore in the first game of last season. (Rd 1 2005)
I have yet to see a replay of it on FOX FOOTY, but I am of the impression he wore two numbers, because just prior to quarter time his guernsey got ripped and so he came out during the second quarter with a new guernsey number.

Yes, I can confirm that BrisTiger24 is correct.  He did wear number 45, but I don't think it was in Round 1.  I'm pretty sure it was against the Eagles at the G.  I remember sitting at the game and someone calling out "Go No 45"!  honestly, if you can't pick a tall 203cm player in Staff out from the team then you're in real trouble!

I'm pretty sure they would have been taking the p!ss if they were a Tiger fan. They were probably sitting with a Melbourne supporter! No offence Interested ;D

just reminded me of the jumpers that the Tigers wore with Iron On type labels that peeled of during the game.

Can any one remember the full story??

It wasn't round 1 and it wasn't against the eagles. I watched the game on video not that long ago and saw it and I only watch the ones we win ;) Would have to have a look through the tapes again to find out which game. Pretty sure it was 45 though.

It was against Fremantle, and Stafford's original jumper was torn up in a wrestle very early in the first quarter.

He then wore No. 45.

David , and everyone else thank you for the information.
I am now trying to locate whether Stafford kicked both of his goals wearing the Number 45 guernsey, or whether he kicked 1 or both of them wearing the Number 10 before it was changed over.
The reason for this is that I am just finalising the history of the Number 45 guernsey.

........

My memory is that the jumper was torn very (very) early in the match in a wrestle off the ball, so unless he kicked one of the first goals, it is unlikely that the No.10 jumper had any that day (although, did he get a free kick at CHF when the jumper got torn up?........ I have the distant impression that he may have........)

A vid of the match should reveal all..........
