Anyone else on the Griff train for 2017?

I get the feeling he'll finally break out.

Our slow, methodical transition from half back doesn't suit him, because under that scenario he is required to read the play, find space and time leads. Not good at that is big Ben.

But as a mobile second ruck getting to contests, and getting the ball forward at all costs?

As a key forward receiving a heap of forward entries, many of them chaos balls?

As an aerial intercept for oppo kickouts?

He's the man.
Nope, the Griff train has stalled. We will forever see what he's shown us over the last few seasons: glimpses.

We've got to hope he breaks out because there is literally nothing else.

I hope he goes well .....

My cousin dated him for a few weeks then he pulled out the old "don't you know who I am" line 8-

Irrelevant to the topic I know but just thought I would add it for no reason

198cm, 25 years old. Should be entering the window of his best footy if history is anything to go by..
Like Vickery we've invested a truckload of time & resources into Ben for a modest return in his 7 years on the list.

Everyone can see he has talent but the question remains has he got the *smile* in him required to be a success as a KPP or does he remain a tease?

I lean towards no. Don't ever think he's going to reach the levels of consistency required. The fire doesn't burn brightly enough inside.

to me the faults you mention will stymie his ability to do the good stuff you mention.

Putting that aside, even if he is good at the good stuff you mention, isn't enough.

Putting all that aside, I really hope he can lift enough to start delivering as a solid big man, because I'm genuinely concerned about our big men stocks.

For Griff to thrive we need to return to 2013 football.

The recruitment of an aggressive ruckman, an inside dynamo and maybe another pack rat suggests we will try.

Someone has posted this at the start of each of the last 3 or 4 seasons.

Yep, but in what is now a PRE tradition ( about everything) it is said "be patient, next year".

Jack and Griff are our only competitors for the tall forward roles. One injury and we are going to struggle! Chol - ? / C Moore - ? / Elton - ?

I've always preferred Jack close to goal. It is where he is most dangerous! He might not have the nippiness of a small forward but he definitely has the nouse. Why Dimma wants to use him as a winger is another nail in Dimma's coffin for me. Lloyd, Rioli, Jck inside 50.

Griff further away to use his long boot. His M.O. would be, any mark within 60m you take the set shot unless another obvious option is avail.

No Vickery/No Mcbean/No Mckenzie all gone.

Don't worry bargain Blair will bring Butcher to the club.

Big Ben always played well when Princess Plasma was out of the side. Stands to reason 2017 will be Big Ben's best year

Tend to agree with you here mate and your posts have been spot on IMO recently.
The direction we have taken this trade period looks as though we identified a strategy late 2015 and we are working towards it for a tilt in 2018/2019. Hence the Hardwick extension - if he really can coach that is....

But its evident to me from this trade period that a more agressive, hard running game style is in the works.

I don't think the 3-tall forward line has ever really worked for us. Hopefully our new player mix also includes an adjustment of the game plan.

It will be Hammer in the ruck rotating with Griff and Nank both floating in and out of the forward line, with one of those dropping back to sit in the hole when required. Jack will play permanent forward with Rioli and Lloyd feeding off them.

Considering kersten, Stewart, black all went for nothing a bit of fail by the club there.

Unless we draft a tall forward.

There is no certainty about any of them being that good. Plus you are forgetting about Nankervis who plays as a ruck/forward. Can take a strong contested mark, is a good kick too.

If 2017 was he his best year, God help us.
