Griffiths

If I remember correctly Griff hurt his knee on Sunday when it was hit side on by another player's body whilst he was standing. He is actually lucky it wasn't a serious injury.

There is so much to like about the skill set of this guy. I have a suspicion that it will be worth the wait.

Yup, he is still struggling to get into games, he is often drifting around behind the ball taking up space when I would love to see him demand the ball a bit more, but that will come with time. His size and pace are a rare combo so hopefully we will get to see him turn into a long-time Tiger.

If reports of Chaplin coming are true surely he will be up fwd next yr & he has a breakout year like Vickery did last year

The irony is that it wasn't that long ago that a mega-sook as had, with the trademark feral "I'm not renewing my membership" because the club traded Collins for Grigg.

Imagine the conflicting emotions when we win a final and Rance, Grigg and Griffiths are best afield.

You guys need to lighten up.

My attitude on Griffiths has always been wait and see. My opinion is that he has never deserved the hype by either junior perfromance or subsequent performance. I have no agenda with Ben and this year since he has gone back I have been more than happy for him to get an extended run. I have been pleasantly surprise with his ball use and decision making out of defence and I have praised him for it. His traits of low possession count and lack of intensity still remain though.

With Rancey i went very hard very early and to his credit Rance has hit back hard and is now a favourite. Still has those decision making, falling over and and turnover lapses but he has basically been a one man down back show since Grimes went down and he has been super brave in that role. Rance has proved me wrong (as long as he doesn't fully relapse).

Re Collins I was then and now 100% correct. This false Collins V Grigg dichotomy was never an issue and verballing me about it wont change the situation. My beef was that Grigg (who I liked and had no set against) was already hooked and booked. We didn't need to pay over the odds. Carlton asked for Coiiins Connors or Morton. Clearly we got it wrong. Carlton should have and would have taken whatever they were given..

My disappointment led to a petite broche fictif on the day but my words were guarded re membership and in the end I continued to support the RFC financially although like an abusive husband they promise to change but rarely do.

If Ben, Alex and Shaun (who I always liked as a player) are the best players in a GF win I would be delirious with joy. Someone would need to explain to me why Cotch didn't play in the GF though.

It has been pointed out that Griff has been making a good number of spoils. That is good -and part of what a player plying in the back half should do.

I seem to recall that Grimes initially made lots of spoils - but was not getting the ball enough. Particularly he was not taking intercept marks. If I recall correctly; Grimes was taken back to Coburg to work on being able to take more intercept marks and to get more of the ball generally. Grimes achieved that, and when playing, has become a huge asset to the team.

Griffith is a great user of the ball; he may be a good spoiler - but surely no-one is saying that he gets enough of the ball. Maybe he should play down back for Coburg for their remaining games - to work on taking more intercept marks and getting more of the ball generally.

Whether down back or up forward; Griffith would be a huge asset if he could consistantly get 12 to 20 possesions instead of his current 4 to 7 possions (I know that he had the one game where he got about 16 possesions). That game showed that he can do it. He just has to be able to do that week in and week out. Until then he will be someone who we all hope lives up to his potential - and we have had enough of them.

I hope that this this week (whether in the 1s or 2s) is the game where he starts consitingly being a meaningful contributor to many Tiger wins.

He got enough of the abll in games against the Crows, Saints and Hawks where the play came to him far more often. In other games since he's hardly seen any action as we've been controlling midfield and winning the inside 50's convincingly. It also needs to be remebered that he's never completed a preseason and would have nowhere near the fitness required to be a rebounding type defender at this point. Watch him and you can see that he almost always stays behind the ball.

Sorry Lamb, but comments like your previous one make it seem like you have anything but an open mind when it comes to Ben.

I've asked before, but where did you hear Connors was one of the players Carlton asked for ? I only remember Morton, who had just returned to the seniors and played the best 5 or 6 games of his career, and Collins. At the time, Morton was the obvious choice to keep after apparently re-inventing himself as a hard running midfielder with a thirst for applying defensive pressure. Collins was struggling to hold down a fixed position and his claim to fame was being knocked out against the Swans yet bobbing up to score the winner, and the fact he was a bigfooty cult hero.

Just what was reported at the time. I think I heard it he day before the trade was done.

This one

Richmond Injury List:

Griffths (Boo boo and ouchee on knee) - season
King (Leg dangling off severed knee ligaments) - available

Like I said Lighten up.........it's a joke! Kingy's leg isn't really dangling....its exageration.......for comedic effect. As for Kingy's other leg , well that's a different story.

Sorry, I like a good laugh as much as anyone but I just don't see the funny side of it at all. All I see is you trying to bag a player you've always been critical of.

Maybe TBH can explain to me why it's funny.

That's not fair. TBH actually has a sense of humour.

If you want to assume I have no sense of humour because I don't see that as funny, more power to you.
