We spent years capitulating and collapsing against all comers while our most recent messiah was coaching.
Don't you remember our 150+ points loss against the Cats recently or our 80+ points loss against Cartoon earlier this season?
Yep, we staggered badly and surrendered a big lead against the Kangas. Under Plough we would have dropped the head and lost. The boys managed to mount a final charge and stole a draw from certain defeat.
Then we played sh!te against the Dees and tried to steal defeat from certain victory again. From two goals up with four minutes to go then trailing with a minute to go. Somehow they managed one lst roll of the dice and pinched the game back with the last kick of the game.
After watching the side meekly surrender repeatedly under Ploughs coaching, I have no doubt they would have again surrendered the Dees game. For some strange reason they kept trying and won.
Simple fact we aren't a good side. We'll lose more than we win. I might not like it but I'll wear it as long as they try and play the best they can until the final siren goes. Just as long as I never have to watch them dropping the head and shuffling around because it's all to hard and they really don't care anymore.

We should never have been in a position against North Melbourne to have to steal a draw and to have to mount a final challenge to sneak across the line against Melbourne a team that didn't want to win.

I agree with you so long as they try but last week it looked like not only do we have some deadweight on board to get rid of but we have no nucleus at all to build around which I didn't think was the case.

Based on the other 3 candidates I cannot see Jade getting the job. Would be completely astonished (and a little disappointed) if he gets it now.

With ya 100% WT - I would be stunned by a decision to appoint JR - they did say they seeking the best didn't they?

Jade is a very personable young man who appears to be totally honest with the playing group. His predecessor was more a politician than anything else.

No wonder Jade's approval rating is through the roof.

But go back, take breath and have a good look. Taking over is much much more than being 'refreshing'. He may well be ready in 5 years, but not in 2010.

I reckon he's a certainty; he's done everything right whilst in the chair. Only Hardwick can out seat him I reckon.

Not sure he has done every thing right.

We should have put most of the teams away s as we held solid leads but to stumble and bumble every time makes me wonder if JR has it when it comes to the crunch. IMO every one of those games, including the draw, we should have been able to shut down and win well.

I know we do not have a winning culure at the moment but we should still have held our nerve a lot better than we did.

After attending the Adelaide game at the Gold Coast last month I was calling for him to be sacked as caretaker coach! Some of his tactics (or lack of tactics amazed me) but I think he has improved a bit in his tactics since that game. However, the Melbourne game was a disaster even though we won. I like his communication in the "Eye of the Tiger"- he doesn't spin the BS like TW did. But I hope we don't appoint him as coach because he hasn't been part of a successful team at any stage of his career and it would be a huge risk to give him the reigns at this time.

Spend years getting your arse kicked over and over it becomes easy to duck the head and stumble when the pressure comes on. Much harder to suck in another breath and recommit to the contest when you're challenged.
Not sure if Jade's going to get the job as coach but he's earning the right to be favourite. The boys may not be good enough to dominate games for more than a quarter or so, but the first step to winning consistently is to stay in the contest right till the end.

Maybe but it's hard to make a judgement unless you can fully canvas the quality of the other applicants.

Yep. We can't do that though so that's why this thread is about gut feeling rather than judgement.

I was lucky enough to sit in the coaches box at that game and I agree with your assessment of that game. The thing I noticed that night was the input Wayne Campbell was having. It seemed like he was trying to make an impression to Craig Cameron, who was also in the coaches box. It was like an audition. At one stage there were 3 players lined up at the interchange gate with no one ready to come on. I'm sure Jade hadn't called all of them.

Now that Campbell is out of the race things seem to have changed with Jade having more control on game days. I like what I have seen of him and he relates well to the players. He gave Dean Polo the biggest payout I've heard from anyone over the phone that night at the start of the last quarter. I think Polo's performance has also improved since that game.

I would be more than happy for him to be given the job, however gut feeling is they probably wont.

After last week and today he has no chance. We will probably get belted by Collingwood next week and lose to the Hawks. The way WCE are playing they will give us a touch up in round 22 as well. Don't think he will get it which is good news.

Jade your second round interview has been cancelled. After the initial honeymoon the last two weeks have given a little taste of what life would be in 2010 and beyond with Jade the Blade.

After todays performance Jade is Gone.
Its out of Hardwick, Richardson and Hinkley.

Jade made my wonder what he was doing today. The team structure was out of whack. Players in odd positions in the first half.

Failed today, now we can move on to the serious contenders.
