Half Time Entertainment !

After 7s marathon of the last few Grand Finals, the half time entertainment is seeing the footage of Richmond's last few minutes of each game where we know we were finishing 9th.... again.

Pre-match entertainment features Powderfinger but nobody else is mentioned.

2.27 National Anthem sung by Amanda Harrison and Lucy Durack from Wicked the musical.
Fair dinkum, who the *smile* comes up with the pre-match entertainment for the GF?? apart from Powderfinger, the rest of it was an embarrassment. to think that goes O/S!! people swaying around on poles FFS! as for the cup coming down that line with the fireworks coming out the back of it - cringeworthy.

AFL paid powder finger $500,000, so I'm guessing all up the half time entertainment would have cost 1 million+.
Clearly not value for money.
I don't get how people are so into this "bag the entertainment at the Grandfinal this year because they were shocked at how bad it was"
We KNOW it's going to be ordinary on a world scale, but at least it is generally Australian orientated.
I'll start bagging it when we have the same population as America and Europe and therefore have the same money to spend on our Grand Final as the NFL and Premier League.
Sit a BBQ in the middle of the MCG with a truckload of animal product and play some ACDC on the speakers and I'd be happy, it's the Grand Final!
If the entertainment seriously bothered a lot people or is required to pump the day up then it's a sad day.
Just being at the home of football amongst the diehard supporters on the biggest day of the footy calender is enough of a rush/entertainment for me. Not to mention if you have good company with you and get to share it with friends or loved ones.

I reckon thats why we have twilight games on Sunday (instead of fully fledged night games), so Andy can get home in time to watch Big Brother.

I take your point, but no organisation in the world does the same thing every year, they have to try new things. We don't have massive music/entertainment industries in Australia compared America/Europe. We really don't have much to draw on for the "mainstream" audience they try and aim for.
I'm not a fan of Australian Idol type shows but they have been rating, hence the AFL run with that.
I'll say one thing, I'd much rather have current / vaguely australian type celebrations than have Kanye West or Timberlake/Janet Jackson out there...

Maybe the Footy Show's Player Review could be extended and everyteam not in the Grand Final could compete in it against each other..still wouldn't have best music acts each year but at least would be entertaining lol
They should an AFL mini-olympics at half time.
- 100m sprint.
- Long kicking contest.
- Goal kicking knock-out.
- 40m kick into a barrel.
Etc.
Would like to see the 14 other clubs represented in a series of mini-games like this.
