PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

We're at the half way mark of the season with 6 wins and 5 losses and only % out of the 8.

Would be interested to hear how posters from all the various shades of brightness rate our season so far.  Have the team exceeded expectations, let you down or done what you expected of them?

To have more wins than losses is great considering our woeful first half draw.

We've had a couple of floggings but unlike previous seasons where that kind of result has sent the team into a downwards spiral, this year they've taken it on board and bounced straight back.

We've overcome many hoodoos that seem to have haunted us in the past.  Not only winning interstate but also winning the week after a trip to Perth.  Winning at the Cattery, winning in June etc.

Terry has the team playing with confidence.  The kids coming through are encouraged to back themselves without fear of recrimination.

Richo yesterday gave credit for his great season to Terry.  He is rapt Terry considered him worthy of being in the leadership group, as well as giving him a chance at the captaincy.  Although Kane was elected captain Richo relishes the faith shown in him and it makes him really want to lead by example.

Another major positive to me is the adaptability of the team.  They play various styles depending on the situation at the time.  I like the way we can change the tempo during the game to wrest back control rather than let a team over run us.  Mightn't come off all of the time but it's better than going back into our shells and giving up.

Confidence and belief appear to have improved out of site.  The players obviously have faith in the coaching panel and what they're trying to implement.

With a more favourable draw coming up I expect the team to have the maturity to go on with things and although it's premature the "F" word is a real possibility this year.

The nice thing is all the above is happening while a whole new era of fast, talented kids are coming through. We've used the most players of any club. It's a real positive getting as many games as possible into the kids ready for the seasons ahead.

I mark our season, compared to my expectations, as an A and I had fairly high expectations to start with.
