Because the hammy is the weak point that is where the strain occurs. Chiro, physio, osteopath, massage etc which focuses on glutes/lower back will provide a lot of relief for the hammies. I had 2 seasons of footy ruined by hamstring strains only for a physio to diagnose the problem and sort it out almost immediately.
Agree, though there are plenty of cases where it is not that easily remedied either.
