Not sure where I read it (maybe the Newsletter that was posted out). But a big deal was made of improving our mental toughness in the offseason. Firstly so we continued to hang in games and give ourselves a chance, and secondly so that if we got in a position to bury a team, we would go on with it.

Have to say in all 4 games this season, I have been impressed in our ability to not get smashed in the second halves against North and Collingwood, despite playing some terribly skilled football in the first halves, the come back in round 1 and today we won all 4 quarters - especially the 4th quarter. I can't remember us doing this early in a season when we are well on top at all (usually we let the other teams back in through a lack of intensity). (maybe someone will pick out a game). Even when we have been winning historically, we have never seemed to go on with it. Is there a steelier resolve this year?

Winning one in a row puts beyond all reasonable doubt that we have a newfound mental toughness.

I have to agree! we looked shocking in the first half against Carlton, but didn't drop our heads and fought back. The games against Nth and Collingwood we at least didn't submit our selves to the normal thrashings from last year and against Collingwood more than held our own in the second half! And for the first time i can remember today we won 4 quarters of football. Its definitely an improvement on last year!!

ive been quanduring this point too.

last season it was our last quarter fades that lost us so many games but its incredibly pleasing to see this trend has been rectified.

the only thing is now its our first quarter fades that are getting us into trouble.

after todays game this has also turned around but i will not be totally convinced until we find the consistency.

if i had a choice i would rather 1st quarter fades than last quarter fades so the situation were in at the moment is a good one.

yes i think our mental toughness has improved.

I have no idea if our mental toughness has improved. But I know one thing. The Shocker's hasn't.
