with all the positives regarding Jacksons switch to the forward line it makes one wonder if we've been playing him in the wrong position all this time.

I must admit to not ever thinking he was a forward until today due to the fact that his name has never been bandied around in such a manner, he was always a backman.

Fast and Strong are two qualities he possesses but how is his kicking for goal? How strong a mark is he? is he a pack mark type or does he like to lead?

i hope he gets another run up forward next week so we can all have a better look at him in this regard.

Turns the ball over way to much, get caught out to often with the ball.

Are you basing that on Dan's Coburg games, in which case the reports on his performance and progress were extremely positive, or on his AFL games when he got a few short cameos and never had a chance to settle into a position? The latter situation is very hard for a kid who'd be nervous and scared of stuffing up.

Dan will end up a very versatile player for us which is good because the less players are pigeon holed into one position the more unpredictable we'll be for the opposition to plan against.

Good luck for the season ahead Daniel. :)

Jacko certainly looked more comfortable in the Fwd line when moved there.Probally behind Pat Bowden for a spot in the fwd line at this stage.
Brown,Richo,Staff
Petts,Bowden,Krak

I think Terry would want a few of our players to be multi-taskers. Forward, defence, on the ball, mix up our options.

Certainly put the opposition on tenterhooks trying to out-guess him.

Jackson can grow into a real leader for this group. Watching him play it is obvious that he is ultra-competitive, has a big body and is very quick. Where he is lacking is in his understanding of the things like defensive positioning, timing of leads and knowing when to hit the pack and when to wait for the loose ball.

He is smart enough to overcome this. He is also 19 and a late starter to the game. Unbelievably, he has probably played more games for Richmond than he has for Coburg. It is hardly surprising that he needs a bit of time to settle. He will be a very good player in 2 or 3 years time.

By yesterdays game and games from last year. Stood next to the coaches box and by the way thry where talking he could see lots of time at Coburg.

Agree. Plenty of upside to Jacko. He is still young & learning the game, yet his physical attributes will work in his favour. Once he really gets the football nous sorted out, he could develop into a Ricciuto "type" (not as good as Ricciuto), but play a similar role in the middle & resting up forward.

Going by all the reports, he was playing on Roach so cannot be evaluated truly from one praccie match foward.

Jacko played on Limbach when in defence, may have had Roach when he went forward, couldn't see from my vantage point as he would have been at the other end of the ground and the eyesight is not as good as it used to be 8)

I think he could develop into a more than useful midfielder, has all the attributes, size, strength, pace, skill just needs to put them all together. A large dose of confidence wouldn't hurt either.

jacko could be a good burst player.

play him off the bench anywhere on the ground for quick 10min bursts.

One intra club practice match does not define a player and his role.
He is learning how to play footy and will remain a bench type player in and out of the backline for mine.
Dont forget those who did not play also needed to fill 2 teams with players available.
