Phantom said:Tonight I came away from the ground despairing over our start to the year.
At 3 qtr time it clicked why out midfield had fallen away so badly.
It appears that we play the same group of 3 midfielders out of the centre square for almost 80% of a game - Tuck, Johnson & Foley - whereas the other teams we have played seem to regularly rotate up to 8-10 midfielders through the centre square in the course of the match.
Against both Carlton & Collingwood we died at 1/2 time.
Why?
Is it any coincidence that Tuck, Johnson & Foley seem to be there for the centre clearances for the entire game.
In 2005, with a fresh wave of enthusiasm for juniors, we seemed to rotate far more players through the centre.
I realize Brown & Coughlan have spent large portions of the last seasond injured, but over the last year we seem locked into this narrow group.
Fudge, are you there?
You see those stats.
What do our centre rotations consist of?
How many players are we rotating through the centre?
What portion of time is each player spending in the centre.
Another question.
Why does our first pick in the 2004 draft now play out of a BP?
Can someone answer me that.
What, we used a no.1 pick on a BP player?
I don't know. Tonight I'm well & truly fed up.
With a bit of luck this ache in my head might be terminal.
Great post Phantom until your silly comment at the end. I'm sure you jest. Hope you are still proud to be a Tiger and more importantly glad to be alive. Mate, its a hard pill to swallow when you know what you are talking about. I too ask that question about the midfield rotations. I'm a bit tired of the education process with Lids and Tambling. I say let them roll and do what we think they are capable of. What do you think Phantom, I am interested in your thoughts on this. By the way, I apologise if anyone has dealt with this on the next page. I just wanted to pull you up on your terminal comment.
