Phantom, the resident stats man and co.

Question- have you ever come across or seen a younger , more inexperienced interchange bench in your time, or in the game?

Test for you and co.

Do you think you can come up with a younger bench in the history of the game or say in the last twenty years?

JON= debut
Polo=debut
Foley=10 games i think
Hughes=1 game

total=11 games

Tough task for you?

Sorry if i have made this hard but it creates an interesting debate and investigation

Re: Phantom have you ever seen a younger interchange bench?

Yes, an interesting one.

Limited in scope by the fact that a 4 man interchange bench has only been running for a few years. Certainly in contention.

As for researching an answer, I wish you luck. Unfortunately collating stats for Tigers v opponents, TAC, & WAFL seniors, ressies & colts takes up nearly all my spare time. Then there are cricket club concerns too.

Will be interested to see if there is a younger bench.

Go Tiges!

Re: Phantom have you ever seen a younger interchange bench?

Thanks Phantom.

Look it was only my curiosity that asked this question.

I know i titled it to you but if anyone has any stats it would be interesting to see say from when it went to four(interchange bench) or after it went from two to three.

I believe few clubs could get a much younger bench than ours though .

I don't have a clue about the stats but I'd be surprised if ours wasn't the youngest interchange bench that's been selected since the 4 man rule.

That bodes well for the future but doesn't reflect too well on the shape of our list at the moment.  If they were fit Gas, Knobel, Johnno, Browny and Chaff would possibly all be in the team.  Will would too because he's earned his spot.

If we had a full list to select from a couple of kids would miss out so I'm glad this opportunity has presented, whether due to injury or the romance of the round, and hope every one of the kids makes the most of their opportunity.

It's really exciting to watch the players of a new era develop and look to forward to the future with more hope and belief than we've had for years.

Thanks Rosy and i fully agree.

I thought i would change the title so i could get a feel and view from many other people on this site.

Whether its the romance of this round or not, or whether Gas or Knobel were ready , the kids are the future. Bring them in, expose them to a game like this and see what happens and enjoy the ride.

I noticed the lack of game experience when the team was announced. I cannot recall a bench of such raw 'talent' in my time. I just hope these kids can turn it on because the clubs future is sitting on the bench.

The highlight will come late in the third quarter, when Polo or Foley, win the hard ball, dish to Oakley-Nicholls, who delivers to Hughes on the lead, he then calmly slots the goal for Richmond to go 40 points up.

I bet its the youngest ever, I never thought I would see the day.

Mark it down, a turning point in the clubs modern history.

So long 25 years of mediocrity, hello bright future! :clap

ohh Yeahhh! 8)

Even if you go past the bench the emergencies of Jackson, Humm and Knoble. Only knoble is a seasoned campaigner so it clearly makes a statement about where this club is heading and that must be music to the clawmeisters ears. ;D

Courtesy of Longy on BF..

Lions in Rnd two when they coincidently played the Dons had just 3 games experience on their bench...
