I heard on the 3LO news this morning that the AFL have fined the Hawkers $50,000 for taping one of their games.  I can't believe the ultimate power they hold over the clubs.  A big, controlling, bossy, self-interested money making machine. The AFL must be shattered to miss out on the 95 cent commission they would have received if the game had been purchased from Name a Game. >:(

It's pretty remarkable that an AFL club doesn't have the ability to video matches for their own purposes. :headscratch
You would think that they'd want to record information that the sanctioned TV cameras can't provide.

ON SEN this morning they said that apparently clubs can but they have to get permission first. The Hawks didn't, probably because they wanted it to remain a secret. Good riddance to them.

There was talk about this on 3AW last night, apparently they were doing it in secret through a pair of binoculars that had a built in camera.

Good one A-1 and A-2....never before has there been such a blight on our game. The AFL is becoming a slef obsessed joke!

I agree with all the afl bashing here, should be more of it ;D . However, 10 news reported that the hawks recorded the bulldogs/saints game

I don't see any of us complaining about the $5 mill or so that gets thrown our way each year from the TV companies. If you buy the rights to something, you own those rights, end of story. Pretty basic commercial reality.

If the the AFL needs to enforce those rights so be it.

Bananas in PJ's aka A1 and A2 are ruining our game. They say they have the game's interest at heart....what a croc of......

Not sure if I misunderstood in my early morning drowziness or if it was incorrectly reported but apologies for the misleading info.

I've got a video of a Hawks/Tigers game that Richmond filmed for training purposes. Whoops the dobbers will probably kick in and next thing the AFL will be knocking on my door trying to re-claim it. :blah

My understanding Rosy is that if they had asked permission first it probably would have been ok.

To paraphrase sam newman on the footy show last night "Didn't the hawks know that channel 7 were broadcasting that game?" ;D
