I didn't realise Speed's time on the board was up.

Anyway, Kate Palmer is now on our board replacing Speed. Another well credentialed sports management board member.

Have to say I love this new method of the board selecting the right people itself and then appointing them with no oversight from the members. Just seems so fool-proof.

Like everything, as long as we stay on top of the pile it's all good. I feel a bit uneasy at how the board has been able to manipulate the board voting & selection to exclude the members, but we did vote to change the clubs bylaws to allow them that flexibility.

And we're the powerhouse club of the AFL after decades of being crap, so it's all good for now...

The problem is almost every period of significant woe in human history, and especially sport, has been born in a period of prosperity.
Of course it's inevitable but there's not much that can be done about it right now. The membership base wouldn't be motivated to force any change.

It's got a run in the papers @nswtiger
Quoting the Herald Sun. Opening line....

Richmond has introduced a second woman to it's board to fill the vacancy left by Malcolm Speed.

As per usual they only go deep when it's a potential scandal.

All the journos are a bit distracted at the moment, all their focus is on writing bullish!t stories on Dimma and what ifs.
